: cts rear end question

I just purchased a 2005 cts-v 2800 miles what am I suppose to look for if I feel there is a rear end problem I'm new to this stuff. Thanks

I don't think I'd go looking for it. Rear end problems will find you. If the differential case fails, looks for the huge puddle in your garage. If the gears break, look for car not to move or to move very noisily. If you hear the whine in 5th or 6th gear in the highway speed range, you can tune in to it, and monitor if it gets worse over time.

Seriously, many guys never have this problem, so don't make yourself paranoid looking for it at 2k miles. There have been those who had failures right from the get go, but I'd guess they all knew right away they had a problem when it let go...
I doubt you'll miss it as a problem if it happens.
