The 2007 has a dedicated DVD for navigation (and I guess movies) but the 6-disc changer clearly indicates DVD capability as well. The stereo specifications also say it will play MP3. I'm sure I can record MP3 files to CD-R as a data disc (getting 700MB maxed out of space on each cd) but, can I record a DVD-R with all my MP3s and play that in the 6-disc changer? I could fit almost a 1000 MP3s onto a single DVD-R so I'm hoping this is possible.

I think the radio in the 2007 Escalade is new so an older Cadillac radio might not help prove this one. Anyone with a 2007 Escalade already (or playing with one at your dealer), give it a try--put a DVD-R in the system with data/MP3 files stored on it.

Sorry I have no idea about the MP3 capability on the '07. But why not just pick up an ipod and plug it in, you will have 10000 songs on tap.:thumbsup:

I am actually pretty sure you are correct. I am almost positive you can upload MP3's to your DVD-R and it will work. In the older models, neither the 6-disc or the factory headunit could play MP3's uploaded onto a DVD-R. Actually, I don't think DVD-R's could work at all in the older models even if it is just music. I know that I have tried to use DVD-R's in my 2005 Escalade and it doesn't work. What I want to know is if I can take the Nav. unit from the 2007 Escalade and put that in my 2005 so I can play DVD's and have a much nicer unit?

I doubt the 07 NAV will fit in an 05.

I believe the Escalade has the same 5.1 sound system as the STS, I was playing some 5.1 CD's that sounded great, I hope my Escalade sounds that good. :)

I was talking to a dealer last week and he said that the new 5.1 Bose sound system in the 07's sounds so much better than the current Bose sound system in the Escalade's. The 2007's have the same sound system as the new STS but it has a few more speakers as I'm sure you know.
