So would you rather have a decked out '06 escalade (24"+ rims, exhaust, suspension lowering, brakes, sound system etc) or a brand new stock '07?

I would go for the '06s at this time. The parts are widely available for the this generation and a lot is known about them. The 07s are nice, but are too new. But, whatever floats your boat.

I'd rather have the '07. Lots more horsepower and other advances. Keep in mind, it sounds like you are talking about a used '06. The difference in finance rate may be enough to make up for a good portion of the price difference. Also, I would rather do all of the upgrades myself the way I want them done.

Not myself...I have a decked out '02. Just wondering what the general consensus on the '07 is. Not sure how much you could buy a fairly new '06 for but I'm thinking 40k? vs 57k for a brand new 07. So an 06' plus 17k in mods(whatever you want) or 57k stock '07?

As much as I like the aftermarket installs... I'd gladly take the 07

Ta TownBackerOf course its an option :) Not everyone is too fond of the 07. Also, in 3 - 4 years the 99' model will be 10 years old, not the 06. You would have to wait until a quarter way into the next decade before its 10 years old :)

I respect your opinion. I think lots of the 07 is nice, mostly inside, but again, this is my opinion, and you couldnt pay me (at this point in time) to put an 07 in my driveway, because it looks like a Ford Expedition clone with a new front end.

Blows it out of the water? I think the 02 did that to the 00', but this is not even remotely close to blowing the 06 out of the water. Im on the market for a new car, probably a 4 door benz, but Ill hang on to my 03 escalade, its been good to me and I have yet to see an SUV with such an agressive look, not even the 07.

I guess customized 2007 looks very good especially the front of the car, but the stock is nothing special. I mean it seems a bit too high and those 22" rims arent just the thing I would look for.
But 2006 version is a very solid car and with additional 17k you'll get a pimped up SUV riding 26"s

Definetely a 2006 in my opinion. But an even more honest opinion, I would choose a 2002 over all the years.

I would go with a big black shiny stock 2007 over the modified 2006. I also agree that the back half of the 07 does looks plain, but I could learn to live with it. The more I look at the back end straight on - it kinda looks like a mini van if you squint your eyes a bit. I'm sure that comment will start some fun here. Seriously though, I spent some quality time in an 07 last week and from the front seats forward - the 07 is sweet inside and out. Another thing I noticed is that the 07 body style mimics the 07 tahoe/yukon body style much closer than I originally thought and that is starting to bug me. As you can see by this reply, I'm all over the place with my thoughts, but the 07 is my final answer.

Yea... Yea... Yea... The Escalades are built off the same base as the Tahoes, and the Navigators are built off the same base as the Expeditions. They share many components, yada-yada-yada. I thought the 02+ Escalades were ugly when they first came out, now I can't wait to get one (sometime this year). I bet the 07 handles better than a 02+ and the OBS combined, Factory on 22s or not. I don't think some are even giving it a chance. Time will tell.......

Why? 03 got the goodies, Xenon lights, all the interior upgrades including the new radio design and ESPECIALLY the nice new steering wheel. The only thing lost was the dash cluster font and the chrome exhaust.

Seems kinda dumb now that the price difference is minimal to go out of your way to get an 02 when the 03 costs about the same.

The 2002 has been the best design released since the begining. Everything about the 2002 just appeals to me, including the steering wheel which I love. The 2003+ steering wheels just make it seem like your driving a big bus or something. The 2002 steering wheel has this nice chill feel to it. Don't ask why I feel like this - but its just how I feel.

I wouldn't give up my 2002 for anything. I will swap the motor when it gets old and fix parts on it when they break, but I won't sell it - ever.

Get the 07', the current style is outdated with the moldings "thrown" on the sides, was never a fan of the current models looks on the outside, but when I got mine in 03' it was the best riding truck out there. Can wait to replace my 03', it was the best truck I ever owned. :)

I would get the 2007. Eventually, you will start modifications. I'm sure after a while you will be able to throw some 26's and a drop kit. It's going to be a great Escalade, and if you can get your hands on it, go for it.

06 all the way. I'm sorry but I didn't buy an Escalade for the handling, I bought it for the look, and the 07 doesn't even come close IMO. The 06 just looks beefier and more aggressive, the 07 looks like a damn minivan from some angles. And why in the name of god did they not do the Cadillac stitching on the head rests in the 07, that's one of my favorite parts of the interior, it just looks so much more classy. Did it really save them that much money or are they that stupid?

I couldn't have said it better. The 02 blew the 99 and 2000 Escalades out of the water, but the 07 does not nearly do as much injustice to the second gen. If you think about it, the design of the 02-06 Escalade later became so popular that they took all their cars and designed them similarly and they are all still sitting on the lot! I say go for the 2006 and have money left over.

Right........an "envoy" with 403 hp, superior handling, superior ride, superior steering, superior safety, vastly improved interior and amenities, and IMO, the best damn styling of any large SUV, period.........I'll take one of these any day......the 2007 is so hot right now, Caddy dealers are taking as much as $8-10K off the '06 (saw it in my local paper today)!!

I currently drive an '03, but I am currently buying a new truck (between the '07 Lade and a Range Rover Sport). Anyways I have no allegiance to the New or Old Lade, infact I drive an Old one. The New Lade is FAR SUPERIOR, HANDS DOWN! It is a joke to think otherwise.
