That grille still looks out of place though, IMHO...more fitting to a Vogue-tired, custom cloth topped Fleetwood, but if you like it, so be it. 96Fleetwood 02-18-06, 07:56 PM I have not decided what to do with the grill yet. After I removed the E&G emblem and hood ornament I added the Caddy crest on it and liked the look. It will say for now  it looks nice man but without the hood ornament it just looks... off. just not right, that one thing that would nag at me whenever i would see it. but it is a nice Fleetwood and congrats on it. Lord Cadillac 02-18-06, 08:57 PM I'm not usually one for those type of grills - but I think it looks great.. I even like the look without the hood ornament.. It looks great to me..
Hey. Have you added these pictures to our Image section? They'd make a nice addition... davesdeville 02-19-06, 06:04 AM Maybe if it had a crest in the center of it to break up the mile of vertical bars the grille would look better... 96Fleetwood 02-20-06, 02:19 PM Well it looks like I might be getting rid of the E&G grill for a badgeless Billet grill with horizontal bars. Katshot 02-20-06, 02:28 PM Wow, it just keeps getting better and better:thumbsup:

I agree, gotta loose the grille. caddycruiser 02-20-06, 02:53 PM Well it looks like I might be getting rid of the E&G grill for a badgeless Billet grill with horizontal bars.
Good stuff! I hated to keep harping on it since you did seem to like it, but I think this will REALLY make the car even hotter...if that's possible:rolleyes:
Now...someone, please buy the E&G from him:thumbsup: DopeStar 156 02-20-06, 05:19 PM Here's what I'd do. With that car specifically chrome grille, not the E&G one, but one that fits in the original housing with let's say horizontal chrome strips. Then put a caddy emblem in the middle of the grille. Like one off a late 90's ETC or STS/SLS. caddycruiser 02-20-06, 05:58 PM Here's what I'd do. Good idea...just like a few people, including Katshot have done to their OEM grilles. Like this (pic of Katshot's car used):

Actually, truth be told, I like the stock "eggcrate" grille most of all on this car, but the billet one is a good alternative for FW's with a generally more modded appearance. I really don't like the new fat egg crate grill on the new Devills. Yuke. Too big, looks like all the refinement is gone and all they did was stick a plastic grill up there. No metal grill like the mid 80's Fleetwoods.... Those were the best. caddycruiser 02-20-06, 08:16 PM I really don't like the new fat egg crate grill on the new Devills. Yuke. I like it. It definately can and did look strange in the pics (but that's GM's AWFUL media photographers for you), but looks a lot better and more modern in person than the last gen '00-05 pumpkin face did...that was just an odd look, which I never really understood. As for the '80s cars...too antique for me.
Now, BACK to the Fleetwood:thumbsup: I~LUV~Caddys8792 02-21-06, 10:30 PM I need new pants now.
Go for the Billet grille. The E&G style really goes against the sporty look. 96Fleetwood 02-26-06, 12:38 AM Hotchkis Front and Rear sways, Ball joints, tie rods, control arms, SS springs, and Bilsteins were all done. The car is a totally different animal. The Cadillac ride is GONE. The car is stiff, but not jarring. This was money WELL worth spending and made the car 100 times more fun to drive! I have shorty Hooker Competition coated headers waiting to be installed to match the Borla. Also have a stock grill being customized...

Till the next episode.... :D ocjmakaveli 03-09-06, 11:36 PM Damn you did all that already?
Very nice, what I wouldn't give to fast forward 10 years ....
The tints gave it that little extra it needed IMO. Can't wait to see how it progresses.
What do you have planned? 96Fleetwood 03-09-06, 11:44 PM Thanks! Well I planned and made a budget for this purchase for about 1.5 years. I am amazed when I see how far the car has come along in 3 months. I am almost at my goal with the car as a daily driver. Next up is Tri-Y headers, 3.42 gears + posi, and ECU programming.
In 2008, it will get a complete makeover cosmetically and mechanically  caddycruiser 03-10-06, 06:42 AM Wow...now that's a plan:thumbsup:
I'm hoping similar things for my '95 whenever I get it back...though am going to start out very small with some interior details, etc.
But in the future, I see some higher performance suspension, braking, and engine mods coming...in no uncertain order.
Well, that, and as soon as things start to visually degrade, an outside/inside refresh...but right now, the 11 years in a garage have done wonders, and there's only a few minor wear/fade spots on some trim that you have to search for.
Your car makes me REALLY wish I had a black one...just like my father had originally intended, but never could find in good shape. Then again, maybe not, because the Marblehead pewter color is proving to be the easiest darn color to maintain I've EVER had...but still looks very ritzy:thumbsup: | |
