It doesnt surprise me that they did it, they could risk damaging the casualty more by moving them through the doors and bending them.

WTF, that seems hard to believe.

^^^ +1 ....

They could remove the seats, fit a stretcher in width wise with the car, and then slide the stretcher underneath the injured person from his right side. Thereby pulling him out through the rear door from one end (with assistance in the inside of the vehicle ofcourse).

Cutting the whole bloody roof off...

Its for speed I think. Faster than taking the seats out with bolts is taking the roof and doors off.

Theres no damage to the car that suggests otherwise.

I call BS on this story. Sorry, but if a person is complaining of back pain it would be a simple task for first responders to place him/her onto a backboard and into a C-collar without cutting away the roof and/or the doors on this car. I'm sure there are people out there who will buy into this BS, but I know there's another [real] story.

I've personally helped medics place people onto backboards, and I happen to know the boards are always more narrow than the people who are placed on them. The only exception to that rule would be small children.

Does seem a bit dodgy, but what could the real reason be?

I dont get how the boot has been prised open though, surely the owner had a key. Alarm or wires, a simple key should still open the car.

IT sounds really stupid, I don't know whether or not to believe it, but what else could have happened?!

Either way, I would have lifted the guy out of the car before the fire brigade started cutting on it! Screw that! lol

Isnt it odd?

I suppose there was no other way to get him out fast, without risking injury.

It might need a bit of strengthening for that!

It seems suspect, but the real story must be a pretty amazing one!

I'm thinking this car belonged to the unfaithful wife of a fire fighter or her adulterer. And the jaded firefighting husband decided to exact his revenge on the car.

Now that sounds like a good explanation to me!

This looks suspiciously like an incomplete chop shop job. They steal the car, strip it of all saleable parts, then cut the shell apart and feed it into a shredder. The roof is always the first thing to go, giving easier access to the interior components.

Why would the fire rescue people remove the front seats? With the roof gone, there's plenty of room to remove even a large person. This story is pure BS.

Story is BS. I spent 20 years in traffic collision investigation and no way is fire/rescue going to do that with a complaint of pain. IMO this was a stolen car that was recovered from a chop-shop. :tisk:

Depending on the size of the person, you could have gotten him out through the doors unto a backboard, with a C-collar and a KEDS in place. Read my user name, I've done it A LOT! If the person was injured too badly to waste time on removable, emergency extracation takes place. The fire dept, covers the Pt., breaks the windows, cuts the A and B pillars and "rolls" the roof back.(if the person, just can't be ripped out of the vehicle.) Not neatly and nicely removes the entire roof. They also would not take the time to remove the seats. A Pt. complaning of simple back pain, gets a collar, Keds and a back board through the door, not the pics. shown. The doors would also have been rolled, not neatly cut off. I call total BS. :wtf:

By the way, I agree--this is an unfinished chop shop job. I know a man who used to be in that "business."

It's okay, he did it to put his son (an "oops" baby) through a really good prep school, then Emory University.
