2 days ago either someone PM'd me or posted on this site a question regarding "What were the 3 longest non limousine cars made since the mid-fifties".

I cannot find that post nor e-mail nor PM (which I might have mistakenly deleted, for which I feel badly). So, it took me some time to get the answers but here they are:-

#1. 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham - 234 inches or 19 & a half feet.
#2. 1975 Imperial LeBaron - 233.5 inches or 19 feet & 4.6 inches
#3. 1979 Lincoln Continential - 233.0 inches or 19 feet & 4 inches.

Each represented the loooongest car that brand ever made.

(By those numbers, my '03 Town Car is tiny at 215 inches or 17 feet & 9 inches.)

I'd have opted for a 75-76 (really 73-76) Fleetwood Brougham, just to say that I had the biggest. But I like the pillarless Deville look better so I settled for 230.7."

I remember when I took my friend to see this '87 Brougham I almost bought, and my friend said "god Chad, that thing's enormous!" to which I replied "are you kidding me?! That thing is midsized compared to some of the stuff they made in the '70s. Interesting fact, my "full size" 92 Sedan deVille is about the same length as a 68-70 Charger. And IIRC, its about 100 lbs less.

I remember going to this car museum and they had a '73 Imperial Lebaron Hardtop Sedan (233.5") parked right infront of a '73 Honda (~150"). Talk about a contrast!

I owned a drop dead beautiful 1972 (identical to the '73) Imperial LeBaron 4-Dr. Hardtop, triple back, with leather. Car stopped trafic wherever it went. You felt like majesty driving it.

Hello.
Here in Sweden and especially in northern Sweden is it quite popular amongst some groups of young folks (18 - 25 years) to buy a used stretched mercedes taxi, witch was pretty common in the late 70:s to mid 80:s.
The cars was based on the mercedes 123 model and had often the 5 cyl 3 l diesel and a auto trans, and always have a long milage on them.

They are now used as a party car, during cruisings. :alchi: :alchi:

The condisions of theese cars can be good, but more often pretty bad.
Even the unstretched Mb 123 model was consedering a pretty big car here in Europe.

Well what have the stretched MB to do in this tread.

One summer night during a cruising in the nearest town, i happend to park my Fleetwood Brougham -76 next to one of these stretched MB and it was kind of funny to see that my car was longer then theirs stretched car :).
Even funnier was that the people in the MB also saw that, and made funny / good remarks about that.  .
The MB had longer wheelbase and longer cabin than mine but i had the longer overall lenght. :) :)
