Well, in addition to the collection of Fleetwood stuff I already had found and bought, like the '93 Fleetwood video sent to prospective owners, brochures, and the '95 owner's video, look what I just scored on Ebay:

This has got to be the COOLEST thing I've EVER found for a Fleetwood!! It's a full dealer kit that GM sent out to them, with information and packets on who the target customers were, a sales training video, another '93 full-line Cadillac brochure...and, just because the guy selling it had one, I picked up ANOTHER '93 Fleetwood prospective owner's video!

This box is so cool...watching the new sales training video as I type. Me and Ebay are an AMAZING combination!

I'm going to try to when I get a chance.

Here's a quote that stuck out to me from the sales people video:

In fact, its wind and road noise isolation exceeds even the Lexus LS400

It's a quiet car, but hmm, never knew that...at least for back in 1993. This sales video shows SO much more than the other one they sent to buyers.

02-16-06, 02:27 PM
Wow...even shows when they did crash testing to one inside GM labs! And then personal interviews with all the marketing and planning people who talked to older Brougham owners about what they wanted before the redesign!

I'm going to have to try and get this video digitized and posted on the web for you guys:)

Dear lord, even talks about the "Pyschological factor" behind buyers of these cars!

And then people from the Engineering department...

Just a few quick quotes from the movie:

"These are a very conservative group of buyers. They like things that are tried and true."..."Mostly married men between the ages of 55 and 75. They have high annual incomes...they are executives, sales people, and lawyers..."

And NOW, some screencaps!

Yes, actually, really good. Got the big sales kit for $16.79 and the other video along with it for $10.53....a BARGAIN, considering how rare and cool this stuff is!!

Matter of fact, I'm shocked at how little I paid...especially after that '93 Fleetwood limo model kit I spent $150 on a while ago...

Another interesting fact:

"The new model is also wider and more aerodynamic, featuring a drag coefficient of 0.36 versus 0.49 in 1992.

Wow...the old one really must have had the aerodynamics of a brick wall:holycrap:

Will do...and that Lexus thing kind of caught me off guard too. The car is really quiet, but I never thought it was to that level:rolleyes:

I would say so, at least when I got my ride I could not believe how much quieter is was than my 91 Sedan Deville was. It seems noisy in a strong wind, but still not bad.

I think as the body/frame bushing age the car gets a little noisier, and with non factory tires, things start to add up, but if I can, I will brorrow a noise meter and do some measurements and let you know.

Rememember the FW is Body on Frame, The LS400 is Unibody. So the only isolation from the cabin to the road is the little control bushings and the tires. Not much at all. So they will have to mushy bushings to make it quiet and not transmit all the noise.

Does it say how many dB noise and at what speed?

Wow holy shit!

Where did you get it on ebay, and how much was it (if you dont mind my asking)

I've got some things like that.
1995 Buick Riviera introductory brochure and video
1997 Pontiac Grand Prix introductory brochure and video
1992 Mercedes Benz Sales training manuals
1997 Nissan sales training manuals.

All for free, thanks to Bro-Ham :D

Uh, actually was just doing my usual Ebay browsing around, went into the Automotive Literature section and did a Fleetwood search (I do this all the time, and it's how I found both the '93 video I had before and the '95 one I also had).

There's a guy there that apparently has cases of stuff from dealerships, including bundles of brand new brochures for 10+ year old cars, that he just happened to find in the cases. These two Fleetwood things were apparently stuff he had from a Cadillac dealer, along with, I think, a '93 Allante video, a bunch of Deville stuff, etc. I think all the Caddy stuff he had is now gone, but you can still find similar things from other people from time to time.

Precisely:thumbsup:

There was only one other guy that had been on both this and the other video, and I was wondering if it might be someone from these boards, but I wanted it and outbid...and still got both cheap.

Now I just have to work on getting the tapes digitized and making some PDF's out of all the sales and car history literature so everyone here can see it all!

IS THIS A STANDARD FEATURE ON ALL CARS OR SOMETHING EXTRA ON THE CADILLAC?

That's something that's been in most every vehicle, at least since the 90's. The typical name is "side impact door beams".

Well, when I said that, I was just basing it on what I remembered for sure. It's just a simple design thing that's been used for a long time to aid in side door rigidity, that's all, just as was said.

By the way, I'm still planning on getting this stuff all converted so the rest of you guys have a chance to see it. Just gotta figure out how and where to do the video to DVD part.

caddycruiser

UPDATE:

With a little creative thinking, I was able to connect the VCR to my PC's TV tuner card and "fake record" off of the video, and now have a digitized copy of both the '93 Fleetwood Marketing Video and the '93 Fleetwood Buyer's video.

They're both pretty gigantic files, so I'm pretty sure I'll have to burn them onto DVD-R's if you want them, along with PDF's of all the other brochures in the box (doing that right now). You'll have to use these DVD's in your PC, but it's still very simple.

Because of this, I will have to charge a couple of bucks to cover the cost of the DVD's and the postage, but it shouldn't be much. If anyone's interested, post here and tell me how much you'd be willing to pay to cover the costs (just a couple of bucks, but I don't know how much specifically yet).

EDIT: I'm now having a few issues with the longer video being a little "twitchy" due to a recording glitch I can't seem to get rid of, so this might be delayed a little more...or I might just wait until I can get a better quality tape to DVD conversion done.

caddycruiser
02-17-06, 09:53 PM
Did anyone else know that they were actually still calling it and going to name it just "Brougham" again from '93 on, until the focus groups they called in told them that "Fleetwood" was a better name and that "Brougham" should be a higher scale option package.

Didn't know that until I saw this video, where there's a disclaimer about "segments taped before name change" and then there's a part where it does talk about the name change.

caddycruiser
02-18-06, 12:56 PM
Okay, I think I may have gotten the "twitch" figured out.

How's $5 for a DVD-R disc with both '93 Fleetwood videos and the brochure PDF's sound?

If interested, I guess, just post, and then I'll have an idea of how many discs I'll need to get, etc.

caddycruiser
02-18-06, 05:29 PM
Ok guys. $5 for a computer-playable DVD-R with both the videos and all the brochures in PDF form, mailed out to you.

Yeah, right now they're both .avi clips for Real Player (that's how my PC TV program recorded them). One is 304MB and the other is 492MB, so they're both pretty huge, hence why I didn't upload them.

I'm still willing to make the discs and send them out, though. If anyone wants a copy with everything on it, how about $4?? I really don't want to make a profit, but did get some discs and am willing to burn & send them to anyone who wants one.

$4 is nothing for how cool all of this stuff is...I already found out more that I had never even seen before, both from watching the videos and flipping through all the books.

I've started getting some requests, so for anyone who wants a DVD disc for $4 with all of this stuff on it, let's do it this way.

1. Email me at dkrucelyak@hotmail.com
2. I'll send you back a Paypal invoice so you get an instant receipt & it will be easier to pay

I should be getting the discs today and then be able to start sending them out either later today or tomorrow.

NOTE: My costs went up a little, so the price is now $4...still dirt cheap for the load of cool information and vids!!

Something I left out about the shorter video that was sent to prospective buyers...

Video of a fully loaded '93 trailer pack Brougham pulling a large boat up a mountain road at a good clip in the rain and then over a bridge...priceless:2thumbs:

Just remembered that when I played them again this morning.

As of right now, I'm sending out 3 tomorrow...anyone else??
