View Full Version : My Turn.... Rear Ended.... DopeStar 156 02-15-06, 11:39 PM First off, don't worry it wasn't my Caddy. My 99 Malibu got rear ended today at a redlight. Not only that but the car that hit me was a red Ford Focus, and who was driving it? My Metal Mistress..... Hahaha! Yep, we were hanging out, driving to my house and her brakes failed at a red light and she rolled into me going like 10 MPH. We drove to the mall and checked out the cars. Here's the pics of my car, hers was totally fine, she lost a lotta bumper paint though. I feel so bad for her, she's paying outta pocket for this, but from what it looks like it's just the back bumper and the mounts, no big deal.

Oh well, I'm glad to hear everyone is okay and there are no huge lawsuits going down. DopeStar 156 02-16-06, 12:09 AM Dammit, this is spreading around the forums. So the mistress is paying out of pocket huh? :hide:

Hahahaha! That's one of us each day this week. Luckily for me it wasn't bad, it was a friend of mine who can afford to pay outta pocket, and I got some good lovin' outta the deal. slk230mb 02-16-06, 12:21 AM She also paid out of pants if you get me..... :lildevil: All is forgiven..... :yup: :lildevil: DaveDeVille 02-16-06, 12:22 AM I'm glad you two "got together". DopeStar 156 02-16-06, 12:31 AM LOL! At the expense of a rear bumper. I can't believe this! Please everyone be careful when driving... This is just sick! One of us everyday! I mean I'm glad it was her that hit me as opposed to someone else and it was my Chevy and not my Caddy. At this point I'd about give up my whole car... I think i'll be staying home tomorrow gdwriter 02-16-06, 01:14 AM She's an accountant, she makes mad money.
Good thing. I'd be pretty mad.
Dope, I'm glad it was minor, nobody was hurt, and it wasn't the Caddy.
I actually want somebody to rear end me so I can get a new bumper. I got Cruella pre-dented:

I can't be mad at her for this, it really wasn't her fault, her brakes went out and she couldn't stop in time, no big deal. She accepted responsibility and she's fixing it, so all is good. Not worth losing a friendship or a possible romantic relationship for a white plastic bumper. She's too cute to be mad at anyway..... gdWriter, when did that happen to Cruella? DopeStar 156 02-16-06, 01:51 AM Big snowstorm in Minnesota tonight and tomorrow......Dare I go out???

Listen to me right now, take your keys and lock them up somewhere. Get your friends to cheffur you around. Tell them your car isn't running. Please God no more!!!!! I~LUV~Caddys8792 02-16-06, 01:53 AM . Get your friends to cheffur you around.
My Friends chauffer me around?!? LOL! Oh the irony! Night Wolf 02-16-06, 01:53 AM I swear, the chrome bumpers on GM's FWD cars are paper thin. My Oldsmobile has an issue with that too... well, not MY Oldsmobile... but all the ones I see... mostly the rear bumper to be exact.
and, I question the strength of the '89-'93 DeVille in general... its sister car, my Oldmobile has already proven to be quite the tank.... but I dunno, the Coupe just dosn't seem as solid as... well... even the smaller and lighter Oldsmobile. I could just imagine what the car would look like in an accident that I got in with the '79... sure it has an airbag, but still... they seem to fold up pretty easy.
Seems like Dope has a little more "benifits" on his mind then to worry about the bumper, plus she'll fix it... good deal. I'm pretty sure If I ever get hit like you did, at that speed, the friggin' engine will come through the firewall! The C bodies just dont feel or look as solid and durable as a Brougham or a B Body. But I heard that the Broughams from 77-92 fold up in a rear end collision, and the C bodies stand up to those very well from what I've heard. She's bewitched me Rick..... That girl does things to my blood..... other than spill it occasionally.... :lildevil:
I'm a micro bit upset in the fact that I gotta drive my Chevy around with the bumper all ****ed up. I do love my Chevy much like you do your Olds. It's nicely sized, comfortable, and very powerful. That 3100 V6 sure does haul ass in that car. Make no mistake, that Malibu is tough to beat, he just takes the abuse and keeps on goin'. I had plans to make it look a lit nicer by adding a spoiler, billet grille, xenon headlights, foglights, high beams, and running lights..... I~LUV~Caddys8792 02-16-06, 02:22 AM that Malibu is tough to beat, he just takes the abuse and keeps on goin'.....
Like a rock........ Night Wolf 02-16-06, 02:23 AM well, the frame rails go high over the rear axle, and it creates a natural bending point. It isn't like they are weak, its just that the whole body, from the rear axle-back bends down, creaseing the quarter panel. That is the biggest issue with the demo-derby guys using this chassis... so they notch the frame so it'll bend UP... so it would drag along the ground, and then it creates a nice ramming spot, put it in reverse and go.
However, the front end is incredibly durable... in fact, many expereinced demo derby guys that uses these chassis will run the whole derby mostly ramming with the front, while everyone else goes in reverse. This point is even more enforced when looking at my car... evrything in front of the front wheels bent, yet the A-arms remained solid and everything from there back wasn't as bad... and that was a high speed, high angle hit.
From what I have seen, the FWD C/D bodys hold up well in a rear end crash... and even with the front... but the lines get blurry because it really dosn't matter how much damage the car takes, but its how safe the people inside are... with that said, the FWD chassis does seem to be generally worse in frontal accidents. davesdeville 02-16-06, 03:09 AM Ok, so there is a curse, but it's lifting.
Rick's 79 got really jacked.
My ETC got kinda jacked.
Your Malibu got a tiny bit jacked.

I know a guy in Dover that will take care of that for you. You can save some money for your Mistress by R&Ring the cover yourself. He can get you a new cover, spray it and you can install it. Or he can do the whole thing. He's done the cover on my Caddy twice, and my Sienna. Also painted my brother's car (http://www.turbojimmy.com/87t_paint_page3.htm)

Haha I feel bad being on that list with you and Rick though. You guys really got hit bad. Much worse than what happened to me. The first time I wrecked my Malibu was different though. A 2000 Buick hit me right above the rear wheel on the driver's side and I took some real damage there. $5,000 worth with severe damage to the rear suspension and the bumper. Also the back door on that side didn't open and the right front tire came off the rim. I skid through a stop sign because it was raining and there were wet leaves at the intersection. Sometimes that's just as bad as ice. That time I smacked my head against the window and blood was pouring down my face and I was pretty dizzy. I was on my way to high school then and I walked into my High School dripping blood on the floor and staggered into class. When I had everyone's attention and throughly shocked I just said, "I got into a car accident..... I'm not coming to school today Mrs. Wolters......." and then just dropped to the floor. LOL! Sure it's funny now, but I got 911'd to the emergency room. And after all that the Malibu was still fixable and drives like nothing happened. axnguyen 02-16-06, 10:38 AM You and Alina hooked up? Sweet deal, you gotta keep us updated on this thing man! Youre all cursed! Stay the hell away from me! I cant afford an insurance claim. DopeStar 156 02-16-06, 10:55 AM You and Alina hooked up? Sweet deal, you gotta keep us updated on this thing man!
No that's not Alina, that's Mish. She's a girl I've been involved with from school. And we really didn't hook up, we might be but I dunno. She's gotta dump her ******* boyfriend first. This is us together.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y250/DopeStar156/mishnme.jpg
Anyway, I got my estimate. I need the entire rear bumper assembly and the frame was bent down a little bit, she definately hit me going faster than 10 MPH. $1,259.44 estimated. axnguyen 02-16-06, 11:43 AM Oh, so it wasn't Alina..but some other girl that has a boyfriend, but still gave you a "payment" for the bumper. This doesn't sound quite as romantic anymore..haha.
Anyways, $1200...ouch. Knock off a few for the favour already given I guess... DopeStar 156 02-16-06, 12:15 PM Hahaha! I don't think so. Well, I was kidding anyway since you said she had mad money. If you blame her for anything, it's for driving a Ford.
I goit Cruella pre-dented. I think that's one reason I got her so cheap. Night Wolf 02-16-06, 12:58 PM Hahaha! I don't think so. The sex was great but in the end my bumper was still bent.

I'm pretty sure there have been many porno videos based off that same sort of incident.

but I didn't know it was HIS car... I thought it was his parents car or something that everyone used... I~LUV~Caddys8792 02-16-06, 09:04 PM Ohhh gotcha! DopeStar 156 02-16-06, 09:44 PM He will do anything for his Metal Mistress :worship:
Well..... for another round of backseat apology, almost anything..... :lildevil:
The Malibu was originally mine which was bought for me when my Lincoln went outta comission. That was my main car until I bought the Caddy. Then the Malibu was put on spare status. Since no one really needs the spare car I use it as a commuter/safety car. I drive the Chevy when I don't want the Caddy going to my destination. My dad fuels it for going to and back from school and he fixes it if something goes wrong. It's an awesome car. Comfy, fast, and durable. All around good car. CoupeDevilleRob 02-16-06, 09:54 PM You probably would have been better off in the Caddy. A 10mph hit from a Focus probably wouldn't have done crap to a real, metal bumper. I once got rear ended by a flatbed truck with a full size Chevy van on it and it hardly put a dent in my bumper. But yeah, something is going on around here. Between this "curse" and all the road salt they dumped around here, I'm borrowing my sister's Regal for awhile. dbdartman 02-16-06, 10:47 PM Mike's '94 DeVille gets kicked.

I dunno....
And mine got backed into a couple weeks ago. Took out the bumper & driver's fender, bent the headlight bucket & radiator header, all becasue Mom "had a feeling" & took the Caddy instead of her Rav4 (which is PROBABLY for the best as the Rav would have cost a BUNDLE to replace the rear door  ).
