View Full Version : I crawled inside one today

A cadillac dealer near my office took delivery of (5) 2007 escalades yesterday morning. By 5pm that day, they were all sold. All of them sold for sticker price and none of them were ordered trucks. One of these trucks was in their showroom waiting to be picked up, so i had a chance to crawl inside and take a look. From the front seats forward, it's a total improvement and i'm a huge fan. Looking back into the truck, i didn't notice any differences, except the 2nd row captain chairs were smaller / narrower. Walking around the outside of the truck, the front end really sets the tone. The details with the grille and headlights are awesome - it's really sweet. The back half of the truck looks plain, as i expected from seeing all the pics. However, it wasn't enough to stop me from drooling. All in all - i'm a huge fan of the 07. However, knowing that somebody paid $67K for it made me feel great about my 05 purchase last year when GM was giving them away. They also had a new XLR-V on the floor that stickered at an even $100K.

Almost the exact same setup at my local dealership. Coral Cadillac in Fort Lauderdale, Florida took delivery of around seven 2007 Escalades yesterday. On my way to Fort Lauderdale I saw them and on my way home I decided to stop in to see. I took a look at almost all of them on the lot and every single one was sold and waiting to be picked up. I was able to get inside one and thought it looked great. I still don't love the rear of the truck but I am sure it will grow on me. My dealership was selling them for sticker and not anything over. The trucks were selling for about what they are worth. I really wanted to see a black one but it was picked up before I arrived. I'm sure the chrome pieces would look a lot better on the black. I was able to speak with a dealer and he told me that he had driven them in Miami a week earlier. He was able to drive a Black 2007 Escalade with the factory 22's and he said it was wonderful. It handled like a dream and you can really feel the 400 horses. He said he was taking turns at around 50mph and it was handling in a perfect manner. I can't wait to test drive one but I wasn't able to because as I stated all of the ones on my local dealership's lot was sold.

Thanks.

The dealership up here by school has none on order and doesn't plan on getting any to stock, so I'm going to have to wait until I'm home to check one out in person. I cant wait.

I went to 3 dealers before ordering mine from the same dealer I got my Escalade from, all 3 dealers were under sticker price, one dealer was 1k under, and another dealer was 1800.00 less, can't believe anyone would pay over sticker price for a truck. :(

Ya its not smart to overpay for a truck, a local custom shop sold a black 07 on 24s for 10k over the sticker.

Well, I guess it is where I live. Today after leaving my school, I started driving down to my dads office located in Fort Lauderdale. It is on West Commerical Blvd. for all you Floridians out there and near my dad's office is GoodRoads. If you live in South Florida, you know GoodRoads. Anyways, as I drove past, what is sitting out in front with the owner of GoodRoads' cars? A brand new 2007 Escalade sitting on 24's or 26's. The car must be a day old and it already has huge rims? Crazy! I was ready to cry. It was black and had big #%$ chrome rims. I noticed it at the last second as I drove by so I couldn't tell if they were 24's or 26's, but they looked great. If I was to guess, I would say 24's. I was going to stop on the way back from my dad's office to take a peek, but when I drove back, the Escalade was gone. I wish I could have snapped some pictures. It honestly looked unbelievable.

Thanks.

I test drove an '07 today, here are my thoughts:

White Diamond-
- Looked MUCH better in person that in the pics (White Diamond),
- The factory 22's look really classy, not ghetto like the 24's I have on my '03
- The Interior was great, not the cheap plastic like mine
- Vehicle as a whole is 1 1/2 inch taller and seemed bigger
- The vehicle is fast and powerful

Any questions?

This is gonna be a tough call for me whether I get a Lade or a Range Rover Sport. My main problem is the size issues. I am use to the Lade.

In my opinion, you bought your 2003 Escalade for a reason, correct? You probably will be an Escalade person for quite some time. Say you like the Range Rover Sport, why change now? You are happy with your 2003 Escalade and I'm sure you will only be happier with the 2007 Escalade. With the Range Rover Sport, you can only hope that you enjoy it. I don't think it is a question that you should consider. With the new Escalade, you have the space and now the power too. What else do you want? Good luck and it is completely your decision. By the way, since you will have to sell your 24's (different wheel offset), can I take a look at them and make an offer?

Thanks.

I ordered mine last week. Every option available except the 22's. MSRP is $64955. My price was $60,422 ($1,000 over invoice and $4,533 under MSRP). Seems about right to me if they are selling as well as reported. They have agreed to buy my '05 (all options and 9,000 miles) for $45,000. If anyone has specific info on the driving differences between the "old" model and the new model please elaborate.

Thanks.

Congratulations. Wow, you managed to get a great deal for your 2005 Escalade. $45,000 is an excellent value for your 2005. Post some pictures when you get your new 2007 in. Can't wait. KBB for your Escalade is only around $42,000. Congratulations again.

Thanks.

I'm guessing the salesman that overpaid for your 05 and undersold the 07 was probably fired the next day. How do they expect to turn a profit doing that? I would drive to Maryland to get some of that action - no doubt.

Guys , a 2005 Escalade with 9000 miles on and in mint condition is being sold at dealers auction in Manheim at max 39,000 $. this is the real trade price between dealers , so 45,000 is a genie out of the bottle wish come true.

A few things. They checked the last few certified '05's they sold and they were in the $48k range. Mine has every option plus the top-of-the-line GM extended warranty. As for prices on the new ones, the Washington/Baltimore market is very competitive. It's not like this is a limited edition vehicle. I simply can't believe anyone anywhere is paying much if anything over invoice. Remember, the dealer is still making quite a few bucks selling at invoice and they also generally get you for some financing etc. Also, most people tend to get at least their warranty work done where they buy not to mention service work after that. The dealers around here take that into account. I simply told them I wanted to pay $15K plus the tax (5% in MD) and tag/title fees on the new one. I didn't care what the actual prices were since I had already checked the invoice prices for the '07's and eBay, KBB and Edmunds to get an average value for the '05. The differerence is just about $15K. Off the top of my head, I can think of 5 or 6 Cadillac dealers within a 10 to 45 minute drive of my house. All you guys have to do is call the Sales Manager and tell them you would like to come in and order an '07 for invoice. I think just about every dealer of every make around here is willing to do that. I mean, I know people who don't feel like they are getting a deal even at invoice anymore. It would be very different if GM wasn't going to build each and every one that their dealers order (ie a true limited edition). Let me be clear, I am honest and will post any changes and or final numbers or changes between now and the time I take delivery.

I paid $47k for my new '05 back in June. AWD,Chrome 17s, Nav, Sunroof.

Any dealer should take invoice for an order. I was offered $38k trade in last week with 12,000 miles.

They also ship. I have seen 8 or 10 car haulers lurking around town waiting for their turn to load up an leave. This place blows my mind... They claim to be the largest Dodge dealer in the world and the largest GM dealer in the North West. No, I don't work for them.

dkozloski-

I actually wish that were the case. I would rather have a GMC yukon or denali. I really don't like the "status" that an Escalade brings. The thing is though, there is a really big difference when it comes to horsepower and other ammenities.

Update on my deal...
Turns out the salespersons were much less than honest  . They hadn't checked with the sales manager when they agreed to my offer and took my $500 down payment and placed my order. I finally talked to him today. "No way I can do this for $15,000 difference". He agreed to $1,000 over invoice (as per my handshake deal with the salesperson). The problem as some have said is the trade. They have offered a max of $39,000 for my '05. I will have to sell myself or nix the deal altogether. They have new '06's for $8,000 off invoice right now (~$50K).

I would run with it if that is the car you want....soon the 05 will take a bigger hit at the auctions as the 07's start poping up everywhere....in fact the auction are probably going to be flooded with old body trades in my opinion.

LADE,

You are right on with what the Sales Manager said to me tonight. He showed me right on his computer screen the last several '05's that were sold at auction (average $37,500). He says he's afraid the price will drop fast when the '07's hit the street. He has 8 '07's on order with 4 of those pre-sold.

I am in the SF Bay Area and spent a fair amount of time looking for a good deal on a new/certified Escalade. I just picked up a new 2005 (AWD, 6.0, rip tide blue, sunroof, chrome, nav, upgraded dash panel) for 46k. Maybe not the best deal ever, but I am happy with it. From my search over the last month or so, you should be able to do better than 39k with the extended warranty and the other additions, especially with only 9k miles.
