: Coolest movie car in history?

I think it's gotta be John Milner's deuce coupe from "American Grafitti". It's still around, preserved exactly as it was in the movie. It's owned by a guy named Rick Figari from San Francisco. There's great story about how he got ahold of it, but that's another post. He takes it around to car shows, mostly in the West. When I asked him if he'd ever sell it, he said he has five blank checks in his office desk, all he has to do is fill in the amount.

Not a movie, but I pick the A-Team van!

There's a picture in storage of me as a child in the 80s lifting the A-Team van at Universal Studios.

The first ones to come to mind are of course the ’68 fastback Mustang in Bullitt and the BMW M5 in Ronin, arguably the two greatest car chase scenes in history.

The first ones to come to mind are of course the Dark Highland Green 68 fastback Mustang in Bullitt and the BMW M5 in Ronin, arguably the two greatest car chase scenes in history.

Steve McQueen may have been the hero in Bullitt, but the bad guys had the better car. That black '68 Charger R/T with the 440 was evil on wheels. It looked and sounded so menacing (during the cat-and-mouse sequence when the Charger accelerates before going under the freeway overpass, the roar of the 440 is intoxicating).

According to stories written about the chase, the Charger could run away and hide from the Mustang.

The '68 Charger in Bullitt, no questions asked.

Coolest car in any TV show? The '72 Lincoln Mark IV used in the '70's mystery show "Cannon"!

How about "Christine"? That was a badass car. Im with you on Bullitts Stang, that was quite nice.
And any of the fine vehicles in "gone in 60 seconds" all collectibles.
Maybe the Vette in Con Air...they light that one up real 'purdy'

Christine! How could I forget that?!

That was a great car movie, but the car chase wasnt as good as the Bullitt one. I have to say, it was cool as hell seeing that '58 Plymouth run down that '67 Camaro!

All I can say about that movie is it had better been a clone and not a real Vette that got dropped. Otherwise, the producers should be thrown in jail for desecration of an automotive icon.

Vanishing Point (1971) 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Hardtop in white. Sad ending.

And there was a pretty cool car chase in the first Terminator. Between a '78 Eldorado Biarritz that was a sort of baby blue greyish color, and a late '70s - early '80s Dodge Monaco cop car driven by Schwartzanegger. (SP?)

One of the ugliest cars ever. And as someone mentioned, the cahse with the BMW in Ronin was bad ass. It was better than the chase scene in Bullit.

It's been mentioned before in other threads, but the Bluesmobile is another very cool movie car. It's a character into itself.

"It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop brakes, cop tires, cop shocks. It was built before catalytic converters, so it'll run on regular gas."

Wait do you mean the Audi A8, or the 79 Mercedes Benz 450SEL 6.9 that does that massive reverse burnout? Now THAT was cool!

The Cadillac Cien in the Island. I can't believe how excited I got when they walked into the garage and it was sitting there.

Of course those cars rocked as well but that BMW chase was bad ass. Makes my hands sweat when I watch it. I think DeNero(sp?) and Reno were in a Peugeot chasing the BMW. That wasn't so cool though.

The Matrix car (no, not the CTS, although that was cool too). Lincoln Continental with the suicide doors.

But now that I mention the CTS, it's appearances in Matrix:Reloaded and Bad Boys II were pretty cool.

Ever notice how Cadillacs get shot full of holes or blown up in every movie they appear in?

Yeah we really get screwed there! Ever seen the original 1974 edition of "Gone In Sixty Seconds"? Well in that version, like the latter, they get an Eldorado thats full of heroin, but in the 1974 version, its a triple white 1972 Coupe, and they dont just ditch the car somewhere, they torch it!

I thought the ending of Part III was best when Marty in his Toyota truck almost raced Biff in that older F-150.

The 74 Dodge Monaco from the Blues Brothers is awesome. So is Ecto-1. I've never been a big fan of James Bond cars, I guess I can't get worked up for a foreign car, even if it does have an ejector seat and machine guns. I'm not a big Ferrari fan, but the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California (less than a hundred were made) from Ferris Bueller's Day Off was pretty cool, even if it was really a Corvette.

My favorite TV cars are KITT, the A-Team van and Tubbs' 64 Caddy convertible from Miami Vice. Am I the only psycho who liked Tubbs' car better than Crockett's?

Here's one from Austin Powers "Goldmember"...
And 2 from Disney

And another that's not from a movie-
but it was on TV
(I believe the Oscar Mayer Mobile is elsewhere on these forums)

That's the one I'd vote for myself. I can't think of a movie-car that's had more of an impact on the car buying public.

Not necessarily a movie, but if anyone is familiar with the Twisted Metal games for all the PlayStations. This is the incarnation of Shadow, loosely based of a '59 Cadillac hearse from the PSP game Twisted Metal: Head On
