Wow...is right!

When I was in my early 20's I know an "old man" in his 50's that had a sleeper station wagon like that. Crappy paint, mismatched wheels, and a really stout big block under the hood. Quiet exhaust with cable operated cutouts.

Seriously fast and caught many a would be competitor off guard.

Nice vid ace - thanks.

I just put the "V" up for sale......LOL

Thanks....fun video.

BTW, last year at Milan, this guy shows up with a rusted out pick up truck, really rough looking, fuel tank mounted on the bed (clue??) and ran 12's all night long.

Sleepers' have always been popular. The new GTO without the scoop hood and played down on the exterior has the potential for a good sleeper too. I always love it when the least suspecting car blows away the one with all the flash.

The V has a bit of that quality what with all the tediously obnoxious talk of M's and AMG's and ricers ... yech-h-h! That's just a bit of icing on the cake for us V owners.:cool2:

Man, what a hole shot that guy pulled as expressed by the narrator at the end.:histeric:

Most people have no idea what a 'V' is and is capable of...let alone a non-stock V. That makes it a decent sleeper.

That definitely kills the Subaru Forester 2.5L turbo I was planning to replace the V with. :D

I do not believe that the V's differential is Getrag's fault as they probably built to GM specs.

I blame GETRAG for a lot of the early failures as I believe they had quality control issues.

However, "blame" is a big paintbrush and you can smear the GM interns that approved the use of this UNDERATED part.

That definitely kills the Subaru Forester 2.5L turbo I was planning to replace the V with. :DWith the ultra-quick 1st gear, that would be one hell of a dragster if you do some engine work. As it is, I probably can't beat its 60 ft times. Those suckers jump.

nice... would have liked to see the ET.

not sure how accurate this is...but the elapsed time on the camera shows him launching at 10:31:22 (approx) and you can see him hit the brakes at 10:31:31 - it sure looked fast, but i'm not sure if it looked 9s fast - any pro's want to comment based on the whiplash of the driver.

I dunno, a wagon with slicks on back that lopes like no tomorrow isn't much of a sleeper IMO.

How about a mid-12 second 1989 Dodge Caravan? Now THAT's a sleeper

Nice! Station Wagons make great drag cars, since they have that extra weight directly over the rear axle. That thing got a nice launch too.

http://www.turbovan.net/pauls_van.mpgYou are right. I dont think it was much of a sleeper either. Its a Ford Fairmont wagon, same exact chassis as a Mustang therefore it can be modded like one.

Supercharged 1996 Roadmaster Limited Estate LT1.

The only give away is the back tires (275s)

BIG station wagon, 12.5 quarter mile.

Those old fairmonts were all the rage down here for awhile ....even i quickly learned most were untouchable

Ive even seen one with an SVO turbo drivetrain suspension and wheels stuffed under it , while not as fast it sure handled great ...

There not quite as popular as the late 70s early 80s Malibu/Cutalss/Bonneville wagons and sedans ....

Here you go... 550 HP & 590 lb/ft at the flywheel, PS, PDB, A/C, weighing in at about 4500 lbs with driver. After the new Dana 60 rear, Cal-Tracks & mono-leafs go in, I'm looking for mid 12's with severe traction problems (no slicks).

LMAO! Nice! I've thought of hot rodding an old 80's Oldsmobile stationwagon.
