Umm... Xenon (HID) headlight bulbs on the 00-01 Cat Sport are completely different than the standard Catera bulbs. They are very expensive to replace so get ready to fork over some money and I wouldn't attempt to change it yourself as their is more risk for shocking yourself if you don't know what you are doing. This is the first time I've heard about a Xenon bulb failure, they should last a very long time but not forever :(

Is there any way to tell if it's not the bulb? Maybe a controller module?

Yes, it could be a ballast. I don't know much about this stuff though. I'll see if anything is in the service manual.

Man, any help you can give would be great. I hate that it only has one working headlight.

OK, quick update. I've noticed that when I first turn the headlights on, it flickers on for a split second but then shuts off. Any ideas? If it were totally out then it wouldn't even do that, right?

how 'bout fuses and relays?

Where would I check that? Would they have a different one for each side since my drivers side works?

Thanks for all your help!

Anyone have any ideas? That sucks that I'm the only one who's HID has gone out.

You either have a bad bulb or a bad ballast...there's no real way to tell until someone checks it out. Keep us updated.

If it was a bad bulb, would it go on for a split second and then go off?

Probably not... probably a bad ballast :( I have no idea what that'll cost! Good luck and keep us updated.

Does anyone know how I can test to see if it's a ballast? Would it be covered under the extended warrenty you think?

I was talking to a Jaguar tech about the Xenon issue and he thinks it may be a bad ground rather than a bad ballast or bulb because theoretically, the bulb either works or it doesn't and the same goes for the ballast. It shouldn't flicker at all if either is bad. To quote: "If you have a bad/loose corroded supply ground, or power for that matter, that could cause a flicker, and eventually go out when a full amp draw goes."

He says he fixes Jag HIDS all the time...

Man, that's a great idea. I just checked it out and I cannot find where the ground wire for that light would be. Any ideas as to where to start?

Thanks for all the help!

I don't know a thing about ground wires on the Cat. Maybe the service manual could help you? If you don't have one already, you should pick one up!

Where can I get one? Sorry, I've only had hondas and never needed one. :)

Ebay is the best place... either 2000 or 20001 are essentially the same.

Does anyone have one they'd like to sell? Or maybe look in and give me a few pointers on where my grounds would be for my right hid light?

OK, I just took it to a shop and the bulb is defintely bad. They even switched it right and left and the bulb worked on the opposite side so it's definitley the bulb. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement or even what the part number is?
