View Full Version : The Clunk 1badcady 02-13-06, 08:44 PM I'm getting a maggie installed this week:bouncy: , but like all mod freaks I'm
already looking for the next mod, anyhow does anybody have feed back on
the light flywheels good or bad, what brands? has any body tried a solid
drive shaft?
One more thing the other day i drove my friends V with the spector
bushings, his clunk was pretty loud, the next day i installed the BMR
kit sure enough theres the clunk, but much louder!! , did anyone else
notice the diff? it seems that locking the cradle amplifies the clunk. 04CTSVFLA 02-13-06, 08:58 PM it seems that locking the cradle amplifies the clunk
interesting, im holding off buying the awk, until some comments are made about this. 1badcady 02-13-06, 09:04 PM interesting, im holding off buying the awk, until some comments are made about this.
I don't want it to come across the wrong way the SPECTORS & the BMR
do what they claim (reduce wheel hop) but like i said, i noticed this after riding these two cars one day apart. It was fresh in my mind! Seattle CTS-V 02-13-06, 09:13 PM I went with the KARS cradle stage 3 w/ metal spacers and I have absolutely NO CLUNK and I guarantee I have less wheel hop than those 2 kits as well! 1badcady 02-13-06, 09:19 PM I went with the KARS cradle stage 3 w/ metal spacers and I have absolutely NO CLUNK and I guarantee I have less wheel hop than those 2 kits as well!
I have the BMR pinion support, does the KARS kit also supports the diff? Stage 3 does have pinion support...and with the Maggie, since the warrantee is out-to-lunch, it may be a good idea.

ACE your right!!! Doug will be getting a PM soon! stkshkr 02-14-06, 12:26 AM I agree about the KARS stage III, especially with the Maggie I'm sure the kars stage-III is a good product... for me, being under warranty, it is just too much noticable gear on the "V". If your not under warranty i would definantly go with it.
Another thing, maybe you guys can answer this one.... On the kars stage-III (see photo), Am i seeing two plates that have to be welded to the frame (one on each side under the two bolts). Thats pretty intrusive..... If so, Definantly not a do-it-your-selfer. stkshkr 02-14-06, 11:50 AM On the 05 they don't have to be welded, but they do on the 04. I had mine welded anyway. >On the 05 they don't have to be welded, but they do on the 04. I had mine welded anyway.
Now, why is that. I thought their was not much difference between a 04 & 05? The '05 has weld nuts up inside the frame.
The '04 does not.
The plate is strictly used as a site reinforcement.I recommend it on Vs whos life is not an easy one...:)
Any muffler shop is capable of this minor job.
The kit will unbolt in a matter of minutes, so if your dealer has issues, that is a consideration. TXSilverV 02-14-06, 07:00 PM Please tell me how to get the stage three kit for my 04! I have had it with the wheel hop! | |
