hi all. I have a problem with my 98 eldo.when i went out to start it .it just cranked wouldnt start.so i pop the hood pulled my fuss out.it was fine cause i thought maybe the fuel pump fuss blew.it was fine so i tried to start it again it started right up my gas door and trunk poped open.now last week i noticed my battery was showing low volts on my meter in the dash.when i came to a stop the meter would read 11.00 or 1150 1250 1200 and sometime 1300.so i charged my battery for about four hours or so .when i started the cadi my trunk poped open and fuel door opened .whats happening .should i have took the hot cable off the battery and then charged it? never had this problem before.some advise please.
Charging it is a waste of time. The alternator will charge it but, if it can't hold a charge it is on the way out. If it is only showing 11 Volts when the engin is running, it's time for a new battery.
the battery is only two years old .but i have another good battery i will try.from my other cadi.thats new .but if the battery was bad would the engine crank as good as it does for that long because it cranked good it just wouldnt fire or start till i pulled the fuse out for the fuel pump .and put it back in then it started or while i was under the hood it reset it self and then it started but what caused the gas and trunk to open after it started?but thanks i will try another battery.and let you know.
Well, the volts you listed where very low. I know these cars don't play well with low batteries. They will do all sorts of wierd things. Not sure what to say about the fuse.
