Hey guys, I would like to post more, but everytime I try to I can't type in the text bog, its disabled somehow, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't...sorta reminds me of a Caddy, but anyway, guess I got lucky
today...

Just have a few questions I'd like some input on:

1. When I drive the Caddy, and make a turn (a LEFT turn to be exact) I hear a loud popping noise coming from what sounds like the right tire. Is this a CV joint or what? If so, is it costly so replace/fix?

2. When I turn the AC on, the COLD air comes only out of the two right vents, and not the two LEFT vents. The two left vents blow warm/hot air, even when the AC is at COLD MAX. I talked to a mechanic yesterday he said that this is common for Cadillacs because of the electric motors that blow air that tend to go out and not work. True?

3. I know that Cadillac produced some Z rated Caddies with no limiter. My 96STS is one of them. Did they produce and 98-03 STS that were Z rated?

Also, pulled up my codes today...just want some input...

PC0101 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Performance
PC0108 - Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit High Voltage
PC0603 - Control Module Long Term Memory Reset < ??
PC0717 < yes, yes, I know...
PC1106 - Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage
PC1108 - BARO to MAP Sensor Comparison Too High
PC1406 - EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit
PC1599 - Engine Stall or Near Stall Detected
-
AC1340 - Air Mix Door One Movement Fault
AC1348 - Very Low A/C Refrigerant Pressure (I just put some in after it had been low for a good while (but I never turned the AC on so I wouldn't mess it up))
-
RF2560 - RKE Message Validation Error

No SDM
No PCM
No IRC
No CCP
No RSD

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. Definately CV Joint.

2. Air mix door - AC1340 - Air Mix Door One Movement Fault

PC1406 - EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit - pull and clean the EGR valve. See Tech Tips section.

AC1348 - Very Low A/C Refrigerant Pressure - If you serviced it and it is low again, you probably have a leak.

It's not low again, I guess I just never cleared the code. I have cleaned the EGR Valve already, but I guess I'll do it again. All my codes say "History" after them, does that mean anything?

Also, what exactly does Air Mix Door One Movement Fault mean?

AC1340 - Air Mix Door One Movement Fault

this is probably the error that is causing your a/c to not come out of your left side vents.
this is how i understand the system to work (someone correct me if i am wrong here, please!):

when the climate control system adjusts where it blows the warm/cold air to, meaning your floor vents, or dash vents, or defrost vents, it opens and closes a series of doors. since our sevilles have dual climate zones it has additional doors it opens and closes. one of those doors that is supposed to open to allow airflow to your left vents is not working all the time.

hopefully that is correct and helps!

You have to clear the code in order to activate the compressor. If you didn't, then you never got any freon into the system.

History means just that. The codes are history as opposed to current. Clear them all and see if they come back.

There are two air mix door actuators behind the glove box. One for passenger and one for driver. I suspect the AC1340 is telling you that the drivers air mix door actuator is faulty or hanging open, thus supplying heat to the driver. Before taking anything apart, run the temp up to 90, then back down and see if that frees it up.

Not exactly.

Does it make noise when turning the wheel or can you turn the wheel all the way, leave it there and then still hear the noise??

If it only makes noise while turning the wheel it probrably the strut mount.

If if makes noise while steering wheel is all the way left, its probrably the cv joint.

Hope that helps.

Well its just on random left turns, not all the time. Sometimes it'll do it, sometimes it won't. I remember when I first got the car it had Hub Bearing problems with the front right wheel (where the sound is currently coming from) so could that possibly be related to it?

How can I clear my codes? And how bout the Z rated 98-03 STS, Cadillac make any?

do a search, it will be an option in the IPC or other categories and then you push up or down on the fan or however your car does it. Mines 94 may be different.

Yes every year from 98-03 had an option for either Z or W rated tires and no speed limiter.. My 02 is one of these... Easily spotted on the door sticker... for 04 Canadian STS's this option was dropped and they only came with H rated Michelins all '04 are speed limited
