: Any ideas why my speedo doesn't work?

In another thread I expressed my disappointment that I would not have the newly Maggied car back for the wknd. It's done, but the speedo doesn't work. They put a new diff and clutch in at the same time as the Maggie. Do any of you techno-mechs have any suggestions as to why the speedo would get messed up? I need info just in case the techs at Cadillac can't figure it out. I really want it to be done and delivered on Monday!!

They've already tried reflashing the ECU and have replaced some type of speed sensor - both with no results. They said the ECU isn't receiving a signal. Hmmmmm...

Sounds like a pinched wire or a disconnect between the trans and body.

The sensor is located on the drivers side in front of the shifter.

You should be able to see if it is connected.

The sensor may have got crushed. It is ref #87 on the T56 trans pics in the FAQs.

Hope that helps.

Thank Reed for the FAQ's!!

Thanks for the info.

Any chance that the CAGS eliminator is messing something up??

Yes, if they disconnected the wrong side.

The CAGS goes on the passenger side.

I doubt the CAGS could affect the speedo in any way...

Heavymetals theory sounds good to me...

I'd simply make sure the speed sensor is plugged in.
Do a visual on the trans, make sure all the plug ins are plugged in.
They may have misrouted something, pinched a wire somewhere, or just forgotten to plug something in.
Otherwise, take it back and tell them to fix it.

I actually don't have the car back yet. The real problem is that the car is 100% done w/ a brand new Maggie, '06 Diff and clutch and she was sitting in the shop all weekend just b/c the speedo wasn't working. I live in Seattle and it has been raining for about 6 weeks and this was the first wknd in a long time when the sun actually came out (though the sun stopped shining during last night's game) :(

OOPS!

I am in error, sorry

I installed mine on the wrong side and it killed the passenger mirror from moving and the "R" light from comming on.

See what happens when one relies on his memory!:bonkers:

I think we're lucky we got that it is fixed.

Probably out driving around.

They said one wire got 'pulled out' during the installation of the new clutch.
