Last night while driving my 77 through my friends field the car burst into flames and couldnt be put out, the fire dept came and put out the grass fire, but ran out of water so they just let the car burn. all thats usable is maybe the wheels and a drivers side tail light.

Whoa man!

That is a very sad ending to such a fine car! :(

Any idea of what started it?

Insurance will cover it?

What do you plan on doing now?

Good luck in getting this solved and back to normal!

Why exactly were you driving through a field?

Too bad, looks like an exhaust started fire, interesting the gas cap area is

hold up, you drove a classic Cadillac through a field?!? :nono: :kick:

100 bucks it was your Cat Converter that started the fire but anyway sorry for your loss. Nothing would suck more then to watch your ride burn like some Witch in the field.

the car had no cat on it. It hadnt been registered for ten years so it didnt have a tag on it, and it wasnt insured....its a total loss, plus the Optima battery out of my pickup was in it, I just put new tires and wheels on. Not to mention it caught my 73 chevelle on fire too...but I got it put out and shes gonna be ok.

Ouch man what are your plans now?

Did you just buy it?

yup, with that high dry grass, no doubt the exhaust system caught it on fire...

should hit the throttle and got away from it... lighting the rest of the field up too :)

Anytime you do something like that with an old car, keep a fire extingushier with you... I keep one in my car all the time.

ive had the car for a year and a half, but never got the title. So i was just slowly fixing it up until I could justify spending the time and money to get a new title. The car will go to the crusher because the only thing that didnt burn up on the body was the drivers taillight...the rest is junk. One of these days I will buy another coupe. I already had a 500 that I was going to install in it and stuff, but that will have to wait for another car.

just for the hell of it, confirm the gears in the rear end of it :)

The whole interior is burnt and everything?

is that taillight lense in good shape if so how much you want for it

02-08-06, 12:26 AM
the interior is gone...melted the steering wheel off of the column. you can see through into the trunk and there is no dash, if it wasnt steel its pretty much gone, and even some of that is melted. How can I figure out what gears it is? and Im going to keep the taillight for a souvenir

As I said, why the hell were you driving a Cadillac through a field???

02-08-06, 01:17 PM
couldnt legally drive it on the road...
