: Thinking of buying CTS-V

I currently have a 2004 Silverado SS, which I love, but my work is 35 miles one way. I'm looking at a 2004 Black V with 14,000 miles. Is the only option a power sunroof? I've been reading about the common problems with the wheel hop, but is there anything that should deter (spelling?) me from getting the car? What is a good price for the car?

I went from a Silvy SS as my DD to an 05 V. It was a great decision. I haven't looked back.

On '04 V's, I believe the only options were the sunroof and engine block heater; optional wheels, Corsa and shocks were dealer-installed items.

If the XM radio traffic is on your list of "wants", forget it in an 04 and some early 05's.

However, if your looking for a one way ticket to mod hell, the V will take you there. :histeric:

I have an '04 with 30K and it runs like a top. No issues at all. Make sure you get one with the sunroof. It is hard to sell anything with no roof. Low 30s unless it has the extended warranty then add at least 1K. Given 20/20 hindsight I would buy the V again without hesitation. :yup:

Is it possible to buy the extended waranty on a used CTS-V? If so, how much?

If you are buying used from a GM dealer then they will probably make one available.

If you buy from P/P then you might be able to buy one from an independant.

I hope you're not expecting much better gas mileage...cuz it ain't happening unless you drive like a grandma.

As long as it has factory warranty left, you can buy a g.m. extended warranty.

My truck is averaging 16 mpg driving like a grandma, so I surely hope if I drive the same way in the CTS-V it will get better gas mileage. How much is the extended warrany? Isn't it 6yrs/100k miles?

Since you are buying it used I would gladly pay the extra $1000 for the 6/100 warranty through the dealer because you never know what may happen outside the warranty. It's just a good investment even if you sell the V before you planned.
Good luck. The performance will easily make you forget your SS. It's a ton of fun to drive.

... like a grandma ... Hey, I resemble that remark!

Seriously, drive like you respect the car and save the extended warranty $ for mods.

If you are still looking for a V, I have an 05 with 14K miles that is in showroom condition for sale. It is Platinum with a sunroof. It also has a Corsa exhaust and brand new Goodyear GS D3's on it with a stock wheel in the trunk as a spare. This car has been my baby and has never been abused in any way. It has always been garaged and is put away for the winter.

Funny. I had a '01 shortbox 4 x 4 silverado, I loved it. Then I bought a '03 Suburban I drive for work now. I save the '04 V for evenings and weekends and I am telling you, this car is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I look for excuses to go bang some gears. If you want to have a fun driver, buy it. You will not regret it. Especialy when you smoke the kids in their rice burners. They can not believe their eyes when an "old" guy takes 'em in a cady. It is worth the price of admission.
