Hi Im new to this site and I own a 1998 catera. I am hearing loud clunking coming from the rear of the car so I have concluded it is the u-joint. The problem is that no part stores have a u-joint for the catera. So I proceeded to call the local caddy dealership and they told me that in order to replace the u-joint I need to replace the entire driveshaft, this will cost around $550, just for a u-joint.:bomb: So I guess my question is can I somehow replace the u-joint without buying the whole new driveshaft or is the dealer right? Thanks

Try P/N 90578558 $177.87 from Cadillac. Be aware that there is a front and rear so take a look before replacing.

I dont think its the driveshaft, but am leaning towards the cv-joints on 1 or both of the halfshafts. I plan on buying reman complete units, does anybody have a procedure or any gotcha's to watch out for?
