I just saw a Pustang commercial. They wet the pavement down and it was still hopping around pretty bad. I am surprised they put that in the commercial. Does G.M. own Ford or something like that??? Any way, at least it isn't just us.

It also is not a $53k "luxury" car.

Did They finally do away with the solid rear axle?

Only the 99-04 Cobra had IRS. The new ones have a solid axle and even the new shelby will have a solid axle. When i launch my solid axle cobra at the track i dont have any wheel hop. I was surprised when i saw the commercial too.

I haven't seen this Mustang commercial yet. But I'm watching "The Patriot" on TNT right now and are already sick of seeing the Ford commercial where Bill Ford (grandson?) keeps promoting how they are reorganizing. It's been on 4 times now and the movie is maybe half over :annoyed:

I lucked out and was able to catch this one while watching Forrest Gump tonight on TNT. (But I also had to watch that damn Bill Ford commercial another 4 times as well) So here's the commercial for those who haven't seen it.

Feburary Car & Driver's review of the 911 S in a comparison test complained that the only way to get a good standing start was to let it wheel hop like a machine gun or something like that. :)

i've been telling you guys that all irs cars wheel hop. Even the m3s wheel hop if launched aggressively.

My V doesn't wheel hop because I'm not a professional driver...... ;)

there reason for doing it on the mustang simple is blatantly stupid: they figure we show the car loosing traction, our target market will be like oooooo that must be fast.....the tires break loose.....HAHAHAHAH

Of course the "funny" thing is that's with 300 HP ? I don't think that was a Shelby.

If you watch the wheel spinning drift at 18 seconds in you'll see more hoppity-hop. :)

I saw this thread earlier but hadn't seen the commercial ... thanks, CIWS, for posting the link. Your slo-mo REALLY shows spin, bite, spin, bite as it bounces up and down. :bouncy: So much for the V's IRS being the lone culprit since the 'stang isn't. Thanks, again!

It also is not a $53k "luxury" car.

But it is a solid axle car...pretty easy to fix wheel hop

LOL

Meant to add my reaction to the commercial:

I tracked down the test driver and made sure he understood that was considered abusive and his warranty was voided.

Now that Stang was the same as a $53k Caddy.

I would think because it is not a luxury car that it should be infinitely easier to get it right. Correct?

Wheel hop is on alot more cars than just the "V". I think the "V's" trunk echos it more, thus being more noticable.
