: Turbo WOT 7psi to REDLINE

We tunned the car today and did our first WOT to redline. OH MY GOD!!!
We pulled to redline. Full boost came at 4800rpm and flatlined at 7psi and stayed to redline. And this car pulled freaking hard as sh.....!. Jim thinks it may be low 12's -high 11's if we can shift right at peak power. The dyno will tell us where that peak is at. Stay tunned for dyno results.

I think it took us about 1.5- 2 months total. But that included all the engineering and let me tell you there was a LOT of engineering. Now that we've done one we could probably do a complete job in about 3-4 weeks with the professional touches this has. We ground all the exhaust and intake welds smooth to make it look like one continous pipe and then painted it all black. Now THAT took a lot of time.

Awesome! :cool2:

How much hp & torque? Estimate on the new 0-60 and 1/4?

What kind of video would you like to see?
Do you know where and how I can upload a video without it taking forever to load.

I'd be real interested to see the dyno sheet (and timeslips when you get all the tuning sorted out.)

That is a thing of beauty. Set up looks Amazing. Did you have to do any work to the front bumper or anything else other than moving the computer to get the kit to fit? Can't wait to see dyno #s and 1/4 mile times, and video of Turbo Caddy raping Cobra on the highway lol. How much you gonna be selling these for?

That's awesome! I would say, as much as you are excited about doing the buildup, and driving the car, we are almost as excited to read any updates about it. A turbo Northstar is just an awesome idea!

I have been working on a turbo for my 4.9 liter, but I have been stumped in the fuel delivery area. If you could tell me how you did that, I would be most greatful :o

illumina, Mark is using one of these:

(along with a walboro pump, adjustable FPR, and 42# injectors, if I remember correctly.)

Whoa!!! I think you gave me that link before, I just totally forgot about it...

So basically put, it will work in conjunction with a stock ECM and all?

LOL, if you plan on selling these turbo kits to Northstar owners, I think you have quite a few potential customers here! I'd be one too, but my money is caught up in my 472! :)

Mark, are you still running pump gas on 7psi? What RPM does it start to spool/build boost?

(...and to think I bought the ETC as a no-mods daily, now it's getting an 80mm TB, exhaust cutout, and spray ...or a turbo.)

Mark, I have a Fiero with a 97 N* and obd1. I bought a turbo kit from a guy on pennocks and he did a really nice job on it. I am installing a 355 Ferrari body on it now so the turbo is for a future project. I have lots of questions. Can your engine management system work with obd1, and how much boost is safe with 10.3 compression? Can you imagine the turbo N* in a 2800 lb car and the engine in the middle for traction? It also has $4000 worth of suspension mods.

This is awesome. The pictures from the website look nice too, that's a clean set up. I'd chuck one of these turbos on my caddy in a heartbeat. Gotta pump it up to like, 20 pounds of boost though, haha. :2thumbs:

Sorry for the delay on the videos, but we reshot some and I don't think you will be disappointed. We plan on going to the dyno Saturday weather permitting.

Last time I spoke w/Mark he'd rebuilt the engine w/forged pistons & rods as his first attempts were on stock internals (he didn't push much past 7psi), after the rebuild he was up over 12psi and dyno'd over 430 WHP and his goal was 500...

I found the video on YouTube and had no clue who's Caddy it was...

Crazy awesome!
I don't even want to know what the turbo and all these upgrades cost.
I am sure it's worth it though. That video is impressive!

I imagine we recommend only adding this to a previously TimeSerted engine?

I think he mention the total cost of of r&d, plus parts and fabrication upwards of the $15k mark. Pretty damned expensive, but worth every penny of you have the means. No one else has one...and that's what makes it awesome.

I haven't been on the boards for a while. Lots of personal issues. Anyway I am working on a complete standalone for the engine while still piggybacking signals to the stock PCM to trick it to think it has control of the motor. The system I had just would not work past 6-7 lbs of boost. Unfortunately it is a slow process as I don't have the time to devote to it like I used to. So far it seems that it should work fine. If I am successful, this would be a way to have total control of the motor(fuel mapping, timing, etc) without having to mess with the stock PCM.

I will keep everybody informed of my progress.
