Ok everyone I was wondering what the population of this forum would want in a cadillac powerplant.
Pretend you are the engineer and lets have it!
everyone likes to complain so lets here your solutions and ideas.

DOHC, 7+ liter V8, around 450hp. Something to compete with the S600's and 760iL's, but with 4 less cylinders!

Actual architecture isn't as important to the customer as the specs. Personally, having a force-fed engine is probably a selling point to some but I think they need a N/A engine that will make between 450-500hp.

pushrod, big block, time tested technology..... I know, I am boring.

Perhaps a modern version of this:

1930's V16. 2 stright 8's with a shared crankshaft, dual side-draft carburators. Produced 160hp and 380ft-lbs torque while the average vehicle produced around 30hp :) It was the fastest production vehicle you could buy with a top speed of over 100mph :)

Though I guess they already did that... and it is just awaiting production... though kicked back to a V12....

1000hp and 1000ft-lbs torque, displacement on demand, over 20mpg on the highway :)

I personally would start w/ a 5.0l dohc vvt w/ MD tuned for a broad torque HP band and a red line of 7000rpm

the next engine would be a large displacement all aluminum OHV big block (purpose being for gobs of low end torque) once again w/ MD

4.0 Liter , narrow angle V16 (like a VW vr6) , camless valvetrain ,variable compression (saab has done this),varible intake tracts, 48 volt eletcrical system , the starter/alternator/generator and other hybrid bits from the silverado hyrbid .....

id like to see a 8,000 rpm redline , and 400 hp , with 400 lbft avaible from 1,000-7,000 rpm ....and with a simple computer retune make 500/500 +

Optional , a smaller turbo diesel version , v8 , 2.0 liter making 120lb ft to run a hybrid drivetrain , with an electic motor at each wheel , of coarse all computer controlled ....

4 liter V16?!?!?! :bonkers:

All that technology would certainly put Cadillac back at the top!
