View Full Version : Which wheels would look best on my car?

I've been thinking about maybe getting some new wheels for my car. I want something off a newer deVille or different wheels from a 1992 deVille or Fleetwood. I am going for a more modern rendition of my car's look:
Class!

Here's what I like, tell me what you think.

1994 DeVille Concours

1995-96 DeVille Concours

1998-99 DeVille Concours
http://www.carstickerpro.com/%7Edolphinauto/XU783114-4sm.jpg

1992-97 SLS/ 1997-99 deVille D'elegance
http://i13.ebayimg.com/02/a/05/da/e1/8a_4.JPG

1991-93 deVille (base wheel, I think it's best looking original wheel on this car )
http://www.cadillacforums.com/cadillac/deville/93dev2.jpg

1991-93 Fleetwood/ Sixty Special (base wheel)
http://www.cadillacforums.com/cadillac/fleetwood/92fltcpe.jpg

Or I could do the wheels off a 1990-92 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo/ Ninety Eight Touring Sedan and just take the oldsmobile center cap out and replace it with a Cadillac one:

What do you think? Other suggestions?

Either 95-96 concours or 98-99 concours

I think you already know my preference:

But I also like the 98-99 Concours rims as well.

Be sure to check out the rims on Night Wolf's Coupe DeVille:

http://inoventionseast.com/1993%20DeVille/1-17-06/PDR_1009.JPG

I think they are from something like a '98-'99 Seville. The look especially good in chrome too. I almost purchased a set for my car but ponied up the extra bucks to get the rims I really wanted. BTW ~ the "blades" on Stoneage Caddy's DeVille look great, once again, especially in chrome! ;) Guess I'm hooked on bling! :D

I like how my original wheels look...I think they were the premium ones when the original owner bought the car. It fits the car, but I want some 20s on it. Not sure if my 17 y/o budget can afford them until taxes come back haha

I wouldn't go with Stock caddy wheels, go with 18" spokes with vogues. End of discussion. If you are going to spend money on wheels, go with spokes, the ORIGINAL rims cost almost same from autowrecker, as spokes with no rubber cost brand new.

I'd bet that would be an option if that's what he wanted.

I would never do spokes and vogues simply because it doesnt fit my personality at all. I'm a pretty clean cut, preppy caucasian male who likes to have a nice car, but not something usually associated with lowriders or something of that nature. Besides, I think (and this is just my opinion, dont get too wrapped up about it) that spokes and vogues are ugly and they desicrate the fine Cadillac name. Kinda like those rolls royce grilles and those things the pimps used to put on the '70s Eldorados.

Vogues would look awesome on a 1959 Cadillac...not a 1992.

I have 14x6 spokes on my 87 and they look better than any cadillac wheels out there (my opinion). I wanted to go with the same wheels as stoney, but chrome. The autowreckers wanted 700$ with rubber!!!!!! I also have the castle grill on my caddy, the more chrome, the better. But on your car, I would prefer the 17" chrome blades (stoney's wheels) with vogue tires. Once i get my car sprayed in july, i will post pics everywhere. Here are some pics.

This is a nice looking rim. I think it's similar to the last one I posted except in chrome. Center seems more rounded maybe -- looks better IMO.

I used to want my wheels in chrome, and I was dollars away from buying a set that were chrome then selling mine off....

but as I got used to mine, I realized I didn't want chrome... that would be TOO much chrome on this car, little too much bling. I like the brushed aluminum quite a bit as it has certain shine qualities the chrome dosn't....while the chrome is like a mirror, the light reflects off the brushed aluminum in stages, it looks really nice. These wheels help compliment the car, I feel that if they were chrome, you would first notice the wheels, not the car. I didn't want that, IMO my car and my wheels go hand in hand.

See how the light reflects off the wheels? you woudln't get that with chrome...

Ibmer, in responce to your post about the snowflake wheels from the Eldo and the STS rims, I like the STS rims, but its the same wheels on the 91-93 DTS's and I want something original. And I never liked those eldorado snowflake rims.

I kinda like those 03-04 deville satin finish rims, the look nice on that white 1993.

I'm gonna look at cardomain tonight at work and get some ideas.

But I would like to get a stereo system in there first because thats going to the shitter. A headunit first, then maybe some speakers. Alpine all the way!

Like I stated earlier, I'm right there with you about those snowflake rims. I never did like that style rim and I will most likely put the cross lace rims from my DeVille onto my Eldo~. Good luck with your hunt!

Yeah thanks,

The new wheels arent gonna be for quite a while..after stereo and possibly tint. I need some new tires ASAP though, all 4 of mine are nearly bald. I would probably end up getting some new tires, then waiting a while for new wheels. Because all four new wheels will be around $1,000 if I'm not mistaken.

Night Wolf
01-23-06, 11:17 PM
If you need new tires, now is the perfect time for wheels....

why buy 15" tires when you are only going to need 16" tires later? run the current tires till they are bald while you save up for the wheels.

Hell my old 15" tires still had good tread life.... Vouges were on the back with ~35% tread life and Enduro Runway (POS) on the front brand new (on when I got the car)

I paid $338, after shipping for my 4 wheels brand new with center caps.

I~LUV~Caddys8792
01-24-06, 12:25 AM
So about $338 for wheels and center caps from ebay, and another $300 for tires..

After a $170 stereo and possible speakers

On a college budget? I dunno.....

Night Wolf
01-24-06, 02:00 AM
well, thats how much I got them for.... and I got them (even though I was tight on money) because it was a sweet deal on exactly what I wanted :)

Just gotta take your time and wait for the right deal.

the tires... for all 4, mounted and balanced and everything, I would say closer to $400 just to be safe, you'll probably have some left over. With a 16" wheel you can get some nice 16" performance/touring tires around $70 each, alittle more or less depending on the quality (I woudln't go much lower) Because of the 16" wheel you are extremly limited to what you can get in white wall, but honestly, all the newer wheels look better with black wall.

the stereo... thats up to you, see what you want to do more etc...

If it were me and I had to get new tires, knowing I want to get new wheels, i would NOT get new tires on the current wheels.... tires last between 30,000-60,000 miles... do you really want to wait that long?

the stereo system can be done at any time, and you can find used stuff on ebay for a great price. When you are ready for that, let me know and I can help you out.

You've got to know how to search on ebay, and don't forget to factor shipping in on the total cost of the wheels. Make sure the auction is for all 4 and not 1, some people will try to trick you, and ask any questions before you bid.

From a quick search here are some nice deals that you can get...

same wheels I have:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CADILLAC-WHEELS-16-SLS-DEVILLE-ALLOY_W0QQitemZ8032808490QQcategoryZ43956QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem

17" DTS wheels... probably go for a pretty penny:

Check this out, one of the wheels you like, reconditioned and clearcoated, like new... BIN for $300, then $70 shipping. These don't include center caps but contact Cardio-Doc I am sure he could hook you up with a set for a good price.

man, even cheaper... set of 4 with center caps, BIN for $200 and $75 shipping.

another set of 4

BTW this style was a close 2nd with me, I was bidding on a few but lost... I personally really wanted the SLS wheels though... still, these are nice.

That was just from a quick search just now. At any given time there are lots of wheels for cheap on ebay. Maybe you'll like some of those.

Stay away from chrome and you'll only pay about 1/3 the price... to get a set of chrome wheels and center caps in good shape will be close to $700. Stick with the brushed aluminum, you may end up liking them more anyway (such as my case)

ibmer

Night Wolf is right; chrome will be almost double what you would spend for silver or polished rims. Those are some good buys & nice styles especially the last 4 links. Kumho makes a pretty good tire for the money and NW is also right about the black side walls looking fine with most any rim nowadays. I recently put a set on my Eldorado (15") for about $200. Since my new rims were chrome, they cost me about $700 with another $500 for the Michelin Symmetry whitewalls. I really did not want to spend that much, but that is what I wanted for the DeVille.

I like the brushed aluminium look... $300 for a set of four is a great deal!

These are all off the 00-05 Devilles and DHS's correct?

I looked for some from 1992 vintage, but I couldnt find any in a set of four.
There arent many on ebay in sets of four that are older than 2000.

Chad, my DeVille has the same wheels as yours. I prefer the standard alloy wheel to these, but they're OK. Better than the wire wheel covers.

My favorite of the ones I've seen are from the '94 DeVille Concours. I like to see the wreath and crest in living color.

400$ for factory wheels!?!? I paid $400 canadian for my spokes (with tires) with adapters and knock offs! But It's your choice. Spokes would look much cooler on your 92. 15" standards. I mean if your gonna spend that much on wheels, go custom!!! Spokes are nicer looking and cheaper. On layitlow.com, the homeboys can hook you up for 240$ shipped (no tires) what ever colour you want.

^ yup thats what my decesion came to, but instead of pouring a bunch of money into my car for wheels and tint and stuff, I would just get a new headunit, and maybe speakers and fix up the front end, and take the money I would save and put it towards my next car.
