: Dumb way to claim the insurance money!

An Ohio man tried to bury his problem and got caught, big time.

What could Matthew Mueller of Ravenna have been thinking? Did he really believe he could bury his 1997 BMW on his dad's property and then claim it had been stolen so he could collect the insurance? Apparently.

Mueller, as The Associated Press tells it, wrecked the engine in his Bimmer, but he didn't have enough money to pay for the repairs. However, he did find the bucks to rent a backhoe. He dug a large enough hole to bury the car and picked up a $20,000 check after reporting the vehicle stolen.

All that commotion though didn't go undetected. Eventually, tips came rolling in to police. Officials dug up the evidence, and Mueller was charged, found guilty, sent to the slammer for a year and ordered to repay the insurance company and officials who had to dig up the car.

terrible one
