How can I adjust this ? odysseus 01-20-06, 12:01 PM I'm not aware that you can. The computer continually calculates a running average from the light sensor on dash, so that the headlights don't turn on and off every time you go under a tree in daylight. I've never timed mine, but I don't think mine is a full minute. It might be something like 10 or 15 seconds, which can be very long when you're plunged into a tunnel. Our tunnels all have lights which very with intensity depending on how far in the tunnel you are. You can always manually turn them on, when you need them (which obviously defeats the point of 'automatic' headlights). paulz 01-20-06, 12:10 PM Could it be the result of validating the "observe the time" in gps menu options ? I was thinking that it could introduce a delay in computer init ? Caddy Man 01-20-06, 12:11 PM I think a simpler solution would be to just manually turn the lights on. Not trying to be a smart ass, but I dont think there is any way around unless your down to modify over a ''small'' issue. TripleOught 01-20-06, 12:44 PM exactly right. i would rather manually turn them on for isolated incidents than have them be flashing on and off constantly. i think mine is around 10 seconds as well...since somedays on my commute to/from work if i sit under an over pass for that amount of time they will click on when the weather is just right... on and off with hid's is also not good. since the components require restrike and cooling time for gasses, constant flicker at short intervals (same with street lights) decreases life and eventually results in failure. i know a cars components are different, but the principles are pretty common. CadillacNJ 01-20-06, 12:45 PM Because it is a safety feature I doubt you will be able to tinker with it. paulz 01-20-06, 09:39 PM Of course, I'm ok with all of you, but... My brother has a S-Type Jaguar. When we enter together in the same tunnel, his lights turn on in around 5 seconds... mine are off. His lights are also not blinking like a christmas tree, and I can tell it, because, we often drive together in the same directions. So, perhaps it is not a problem of delay or sensitivity... perhaps it's only that, on Jag', the analysis of darkness is "straight ahead", instead of vertical to the sky on CTS ? 70eldo 01-23-06, 09:14 AM Actually, you CAN adjust that time in your menu. It ranges from 15 seconds to up some minutes? Mine is set to 15 seconds. It's somewhere in your personal settings... CadillacNJ 01-23-06, 09:42 AM Actually, you CAN adjust that time in your menu. I may be mistaken, but I think you are referring to twilight sentinal which is how long your headlights stay on when you turn the car off at night. BishopRuger 01-23-06, 09:55 AM on and off with hid's is also not good. since the components require restrike and cooling time for gasses, constant flicker at short intervals (same with street lights) decreases life and eventually results in failure. i know a cars components are different, but the principles are pretty common. This is very true... RobertCTS 01-23-06, 10:39 AM I just browsed my manual and could find no opportunity to make this sort of adjustment. Maybe the dealer can Type II tool. 70eldo 01-24-06, 03:23 AM I may be mistaken, but I think you are referring to twilight sentinal which is how long your headlights stay on when you turn the car off at night. uhuh... that's the same time that adjusts the reaction time of the lights to turn on. Even in my 70 Eldorado the sentinel works like that... BishopRuger 01-24-06, 08:44 AM Hmmm I'm not sure that its does work that way. My auto shut off is set for about 30 seconds and my light senor works faster then that when in a tunnel for example. 70eldo 01-24-06, 10:44 AM Alright, might be my imagination. Don't want to spread wrong info... But it does work like that on my Eldorado odysseus 01-24-06, 11:47 AM I timed mine yesterday (in and out of the garage). Mine automatically switch at 20 seconds. It would be nice if it was slightly lower (or adjustable), but it doesn't bother me enough to be a problem. paulz 01-24-06, 11:52 AM Hummm ! I think I unvolontary created a problem with my question... Sorry for that ( lol) paulz 01-24-06, 02:28 PM http://i21.ebayimg.com/04/i/05/a4/bb/d2_1.JPG 70eldo 01-25-06, 10:39 AM aaaahhh, the Lambo-doors. To be honoust: not my thing. But it is definately something... TripleOught 01-25-06, 11:42 AM so much hatred towards the doors...honestly, i think it's kinda neat. probably very impractical but it's pretty unique and a great way to quickly burn 2000-2500 real fast... Well. That's another matter altogether! TripleOught 01-25-06, 11:49 AM wow, thats way cheaper than i thought. i figured you'd have to get it hooked up at a shop, so the labor would add about the same as the parts...making the price tag climb quick... haha, maybe i should do it...then you guys would rip on me... PS : I bought mine 20 days ago to this eBayer, and still did not receive them. I will tell you when received... hummmm... very long delays... why ? paulz 01-31-06, 08:37 AM I confirm : don't run to this guy on eBay (see above) : I ordered and paid since 4th january, and he didn't ship nothing. He wrote me last week that kit would be shipped tomorrow... wait & see ! | |
