Hi all,

I just bought a Black 2003 5 speed manual CTS and im loving it. However when I bought the car I asked the guy what package it was and he said it was the base model. Reading through these pages it sounds like I have more than what the base model comes with though. It has heated seats, wood trim, power passenger seat, sun roof, the voice recorder, keyless entry. It does not have a bose system and I dont believe it has a cd changer. Does this sound like the base model? One thing I saw in a forum it sounds like the ones in Canada come with different options on the back of my keyless entry it says Canada on it so im not sure about that.

Also the sound system in it is "ok" but when I crank it about a little "I think it has a sub in the back" it rattles and when I turn it up more distortion kicks in, the speakers are pretty good for stock but thats about it. What have people been doing for the sound in these cars?

you might have the sport model...i honestly didn't think the base model came with heated seats.

where are the heated seat buttons? are they to the left and right of the front and rear defroster buttons? if they are, thats factory...i think aftermarket puts them comewhere else...but i could be wrong...

what size wheels do you have?

Yeah the heated seat buttons are to the left and right, its very stock looking I cant imagine thats aftermarket. I dont know the exact size of the tires but I know they are 16 inch rims. I thought the sports model came with 17. Also im pretty sure the base model doesnt come with a power passenger seat which mine has or the voice recorder or the wood trim.

The sport model came standard with 17" wheels, but both the Lux and sport model's had wood insert on the steering wheel. The non-Bose was standard equipment on all models, but Bose was available only on the Luxury and Sport models. All had a subwoofer in the rear. The Bose amp came paired with a six disk changer in the dash. It looks almost identical to the base head unit, but has a 'load' button. All had power seats on the driver's side, but the lux and sport models had it also on the passenger side. Staillitrac was only available on the sport model, which also included the sport suspension with load leveling nivomat shocks in the rear. Heated seats were optional on both the Lux and sport models.

If you've got lots of these, but 16" wheels, it's surely the luxury model (1SB).

Yeah after going over the list it seems highly likely. I have just about everything the luxery would have. The guy I bought it from said that the first ones came out had more standard options then the next year they cut back on the standard options and made them true options to make them affordable, this doesnt sound like the case though. Just wish it had a cd changer, owell. Love the car though, big improvment over my 91 Saturn :p. Wife drives an 99 A6 she jokes now that she has the shit box.

The 6 disk changer head unit is a direct swap. You'll have to have the VIN cleared at the dealer with a Tech 2 programmer, if it's used though. Then it will work like it was there all along.

Do you have the pewter colored dash (1/02 build date to around summer 02) or black (summer '02 to summer '03)? That's gonna be your biggest hurdle, since pewter head units are hard to find.

Also, if you really want a kickin' upgrade, do the Nav install. You'll get the six disk changer and a nav system (DVD capable if you've got the black dash). Many are going for under $1000. Instructional how-to details are over at CadillacFAQ.com.

Yeah it is pewter. I definitly have plans to go with the NAV in the future we will see. I have always wanted a car with one inside.

mikesharon, I have a pewter colored Bose 6-disc changer w/cassette headunit that I took out of my car a few months ago that I am looking to sell. I was going to put it in the classified section, I just havent got around to taking pics yet.

Well unless your talking dirt cheap i probalby wont be interested cause im really looking to go for the NAV system in the future and dont wanna do it twice. Thank you for giving me the offer but your probably going to get more for it in the classifieds unless we are talking around 100 bucks which obviously its worth more than that.

here's a list of 2003 Nav if anyone is interested. I believe these are all CD-ROM based Nav's not DVD. I bought mine from Spalding auto parts for $350 cheap and works like a charm. But the gps antenna from gmpartsdirect for $45, $150 for shop to install ( gave them directions from FAQ ) , $106 for tech 2 from the dealer. and i'm loving it.

I agree with a few things people have said here, I dont think im going to get the warranty. In 2 years I would rather dish out the 3k in repairs if needed then chance on spending it.
