WOW.. I have been trying to register for this forum for 3 months now, but couldnt cause I only had a yahoo account. Sent 10+ emails to mods without somuch as a reply:mad: . TripleOught even tried helpin me out with a couple after I hijacked his email from an ebay ad. but still nothin. Thanks by the way TO!!:worship: I appreciate you trying. Oh well im in now and I finally get to post on all these great topics. This forum is great, usually the first place I go when I get home from work. Although I must warn I am probably going to bring up a couple old posts that made me bite hand not being able to comment on at the time.
I bought my 03 Black 5 speed back in Nov and have loved every min of it!! Havent done a whole lot to it yet as I work about 60 - 80 hours a week right now. V grill, tinted windows, tinted running lights (turned off with techII), high beam fogs, custom airbox and intake (carbon fiber), Borla exhaust sittin in the garage for a month now (feels like a year), hopefully when I get my check back from uncle sam a set of MC2 RT29. Oh Yeah:stirpot: I got a bid in on a 3.2 on ebay.... can you say playtime, no replacement for displacement! but it still wont hurt to also add a turbo and stand alone ecm
Anyway glad to be here finally:thumbsup:

Thats cool, welcome aboard.

Do you plan on modding that 3.2L and then doing an engine swap ??

Yes, going to tear it down first and take some measurements to see what is feasable. possibly just bore & stroke have to bring the crank down to Allied and see what they can do with it.

So you live on Cat Drive or are you a veternarian?:D:welcome:

In investing that kind of cash why would you want to build up a 3.2 when it's an orphan and doesn't have near the potential of the high tec 3.6? Plus more aftermarket stuff will be offered for the 3.6..no sense for a out of production 3.2. I say this because you plan to buy another engine off of Ebay. A 3.6 makes a lot more sense IMO.

wow, welcome to the forums, finally! sorry i wasn't more helpful but i really tried...seemed to hit a road block.

seriously dude, you need to put the borla on...you won't believe the gitty-up over stock. when i drove a recent loaner, even though it was a 3.6, i was like MAN this sucks.

anyways, glad you're finally able to participate...sounds like you've got quite a bit on your plate for the next few months...

Welcome to the forum. If you're gonna rebuild a 3.2L motor for max power, I don't think displacment alone will do it (at least cheaply). It's already an enlarged version of the Opel 3.0L used in the Catera. BUT, if you put forged pistons and lower the CR to around 9.0:1, and throw a turbo on it, I'm sure you can really make it scream, if you can somehow crack the ECM to take advantage of it. Lund got almost 1100 HP out of a turbocharged 3.2L CTS for their Bonneville runs. You'd be one of a handfull, if you get Forced Induction to work sucessfully and reliably on a CTS. CMS should be coming out with an electric supercharger soon, although Pete mentioned it put out so much power, that the diffs weren't holding up. He'll have to de-tune it to make it reliable for the rest of the car.

Squire Turbo Systems (STSTurbo.com) has an incredibly easy to retrofit remote turbo system that simply screams, but at $3500 isn't cheap. It mounts near the back of the car, where the exhaust gas is coolest (and most dense), replacing a muffler. They have some interesting info and videos on their web page.

There's also a 3.2L motor on eBay right now ($0.01 opening bid with no reserve) with auto trans. $450 shipping, though. That would be a cheap core for building up. Personally, I'd only be interested in the upper and lower intake, and heads, so I can send them to Pete for a full massage, prior to installing in my car. They'd go great with the pending stainless steel jet-hot coated headers that he's fabricating for us.

With a stock 3.2L motor, CMS headers (~$1700), Borla exhaust (~$1000), and the Volant cold air intake (~$250), you should be pushing around 235 RWHP, which translates to around 285 HP at the flywheel. That equates to nothing but fun with a manual transmission.

Look at this, this place is addictive, im home for lunch and im spending it on here. Whats up Robert, you must be the most active member on here or maybe its just that pic of your car that stands out and grabs me so easy! I want to stick with the 3.2 bcause no one makes anything for it and when I smoke someone with it its just that much more impressive. My screen name.... no not a vet, I considering putting it on my lic plate but I know the most asked question I will get is if im a vet or ob/gyn. Really I build offshore powerboats, catamarans, and I crew cheif for a race team. thats where that came from

OK Cat-Man, thanks for your bio. Yes I'm a posting whore. I love this place and the members. I've learned so much and enjoy sharing.

I love the big catamarans. Here's a pic of my favorite, the Sea Shadow!:D

There IS a turbo available? I don't see it on their site?

Not for the CTS specifically. No one currently has a turbo or supercharger available for the CTS. The Squire turbo's would be a simple retrofit, though, since they mount in place of a muffler. You'd have to fab the tubing back to the intake though. The single turbo 'tuner' kits seem to be going for around $3600.

Not to get your hopes up, since the obsticle to tuning the CTS is the ECU, which is self learning and no one makes a programmer for. CMS is working on a hack, but it's not ready yet. They also have a electric supercharger in development, that may be released soon. With 10:1+ compression, anything over 5 psi is asking for major trouble keeping the engine alive.

Lund and RSM both had Vortec supercharger kits for the CTS, but withdrew them shortly after introduction, due to ECM issues. Pete also has said that the CTS rear is only good for something like 320 ft-lbs of torque, which is exceeded with forced induction, so transmission and differential failure are likely.

There are no easy answers, but like I said, headers, high flow exhaust and cold air intake go a long way to produce max HP and torque on the CTS, and all are available now.
