Hello everyone.
I am the new owner of a 2005 CTS 3.6 with the sport and luxury packages. No nav/Bose though darn it. I don't know if you guys usually introduce yourselves, but here I go.
This is the first American made car that I have ever owned. Up to this point I have driven Asian and mostly German cars. My last car was a 1997 SL500 and yes I loved it and oh yes I miss it bad. However, it just got too expensive to own anymore. Every time it had a problem (which was happening more and more often for the last few months) the bill was $600.00 + for what seemed like relatively simple repairs. Here's a link to a gallery with some pics of it if anyone happens to be interested. http://www.benzworld.org/gallery/showlink.asp?CatID=13252&parentID=26&subname=dallas_sl500&parentname=R129_SL_Class
I was pretty active on a couple of MB forums and I hope to be an active member here. When I got my SL I knew absolutely nothing about them, but I learned so much from the forums that I was really pretty knowledgeable after a few months.
My main reason for purchasing the CTS was that I wanted something under warranty. Big surprise that would be my main concern huh? I do really like the way the car looks both inside and out. I also like all of the features the car has. Overall it's a really great car and I am excited to own it. The only thing that I am trying to get used to is the huge and I mean huge reduction in performance and speed. In my SL at 80 MPH if you punched it you were over 100 MPH instantly and it was begging for more. In the CTS at 80 when you punch it you slowly accelerate to 85. It's okay, apples and oranges etc., but it is an adjustment. I think that once I get used to that aspect of the car I will be totally satisfied.
I have looked through the gallery and really like what some of you have done to your cars. I definitely like to make subtle calculated changes to individualize my car too but, like most of you, I don't want to go overboard. I always enjoy getting ideas from seeing what others have done to their cars and I have been known to inspire a few immitators in my time as well.;)
Anyway, that's me. I may be asking a bunch of questions soon or making some comments that solicit opinions. I have been doing a lot of research over the last few days and I definitely know how to use the search feature though. So, if I ask a question and it's on here already it's because I looked and could not find it. I'll attach a pic of my new ride from the dealership's website so that you can see it.
