View Full Version : Some A$$hole ripped off my hood ornament! weister42 01-17-06, 05:48 PM Come on, who the hell still do this kind of sh!t to other people's cars? I was the last one out the bar and my car was parked by the front entrance so it could of been anyone who were at the bar. All I have to say is whoever did it, you're a little bitch and I hope you go to hell for disrespecting me and the Cadillac name. I~LUV~Caddys8792 01-17-06, 08:08 PM I hate people like those shitheads!
I take all of mine off junkyard cars... Its actually quite hard to find a good one off a Cadillac, but I got one off of a '88 Eldorado Biarritz, not just any hood ornament mind you, but a gold one! And its in pretty good shape too :D AlBundy 01-17-06, 09:06 PM You know its been going on for years. Some idiots walk around stealing prestigious hood ornaments off of cars like Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc... so they can have a belt buckle that looks unique. They take it and them make a belt buckle out of it. If that's not the case? Who did you piss-off in the bar? weister42 01-17-06, 09:25 PM Nope we just sat at the bar until everyone left. Some people there knows that I have a Cadillac so maybe they just went and took it. I~LUV~Caddys8792 01-17-06, 09:33 PM Well you may feel better knowing if this person was sober, they wouldnt have touched it.
It was liquid courage that made them do it SilverFleetwood85 01-17-06, 10:58 PM What a Jacka##, man that really sucks, did it damage the sheet metal of the hood when they ripped off the ornament? terrible one 01-18-06, 12:09 AM I'd be pissed, but it could be worse. Sorry about that man, not much you can do though. You know, I removed the temptation for these simpletons by taking the hood ornament off my '88, filling in the hole on the hood and then buying a grille-mounted emblem. Now I get the nose-pickers and nut-scratchers going around my car trying to figure out if they made a CONCOURS edition in 1988!!!!! I~LUV~Caddys8792 01-18-06, 02:46 PM On the '97's the ornament is flexible right?
So that means either that guy was incredibly strong, or that he bent the hood ornament back, which exposed the wire that it was attached to, and he took a tin snips and cut that.
But whos strong enough to rip it clean off, or whos got a tin snips available at all times? terrible one 01-18-06, 08:57 PM Me of course. weister42 01-19-06, 02:57 AM I have a 98 Deville btw:shhh: Yes my ornament is flexible but the main point is the disrespect part of it. Also now I can't see where the front of my hood is so parking in a garage is going to be a pain.
Time to order a new one.... caddeville 01-19-06, 03:09 AM SHAME ON ME!!!!! Before i got my caddy, i was walking around/chillin with one of my friends and i saw a 1987 or 88 FWD fleetwood and jacked the hood ornament and the trunk emblem on it. I was 13 at the time and i bent the ornament back and the wire was exposed so i jus snipped it. I pried the wreath off the trunk and snapped the crest off. That late November i got MY baby, as soon as i got it, i just fell in love. I am also saying that all ornaments are flexible. I sold all of my caddy emblems to one of our customers who is a cadillac collector, including the ones on my car (ornament(s) too. I also hated caddies at the time. I sold all emblems for 150$. Oh by the way, goin to the dealer for one ornament is a waste of money, they NOT worth 100$!!! gdwriter 01-19-06, 04:39 PM That sucks, weister42. When I was in college, I used to turn hood ornaments sideways, but I didn't swipe them.
I'm glad my '91 DeVille has the hood ornament wired to the horn. Turn it too far, and the trumpet horn blares.
Check out eBay. I've found lots of emblems and hood ornaments there. Tailfin 03-24-06, 07:46 PM :thepan: Ahhh! One of those bastards! I think it's an expression of jealousy from Civic owners or something... If they can't have a pristine Caddy, then you're not going to either...
I utterly despise this act...especially when a car is in real nice condition and then, panning up to the hood......son of a....
I also hate Cadillac's response to this and putting it on the grill...bending back to the thieves. It doesn't take a lot of money to construct a metal device which is beyond human strength. I think they should have designed one with a valve spring under there :D...and a nice shiny beefy hood ornament made of steel and plated with crome...hot damn...I need a metal shop... | |
