Looking at getting one. Anyone know if there's a hard wire kit for the V and this radar detector?

I spliced mine into the center ceiling light and put the 'mute' button and flashing LEDs from the cigarette lighter plug into the little piece of plastic that covers the wires coming out of the rearview mirror.

I'm not sure if there is a better solution but I really like my end result.

I have one, went out and got a cigarette lighter extension, plug in to the back seat plug, run along the center console at the carpet with clips and then just have the wire run up when I use it.

The wire runs up on the passenger side of the main a/c ducts and then direct to the unit. That allows me to take the unit down and slide it between the consol and the seat when not in use or I park the car, putting the unit out of sight.

Dont get any noise from the wiring either. I have also glued two pieces of small rubber band, blacked out with a black sharpie on the very front two corners of the unit so it wont click on the glass of the window.

Just some thoughts for getting it out of the way and keeping it simple.

I just used telephone wire and hardwired it to a constant on the larger plug for the sunroof. I just leave the x50 on or easily pull it down when needed. The mute button is on the front as well, so I have not lost that function.
Mine paid for itself within a month or so...I'm sure your's will too.

Seattle, I tried to hardwire mine in but it didn't work. I was able to find 12 volts at the light but could never get power to the radar. Could you pass on your wiring color scheme at the radar. I don't follow how you wired in the ashtray plug led. Sorry to jack this but I'd like to hard wire mine also.

Where do you mount it?

Mine is just to the right of the rearview mirror and just under the tint at the top of the window.

I also put a couple little self-adhesive cloth 'stops' on the point of contact btwn the Passport and the window so the subwoofer doesn't rattle it.

Mine works fine without the hardwire. I like having the close access to the mute button because I have my volume turned up afew decibles. It is easy to remove and put it into another car. I have friends with the hardwire kits which you can buy here

However I love the convinience of being able to use the passport in friends cars.

I had a V1 hardwired with a modified stock cable for $35 in labor. The install was not very stealth but the reception was great.

I hard wired mine from the electric panel under rear seat. I used a lead that turns off with ignition. I located detector on left side of dash secured with velcro. Easy to access and easy to hide. The wires were easy to hide within the trim.

Wish I had known of that accessory cord from the start. I basically did the same to mine by using a dremel.
