I'm dyin' without the V. Awful. I've been in my backup car (a 2000 F*rd Police Interceptor) since the wreck ~NYE and just dying. It was nice to drive the Cop car occasionally just for the switch to a softly sprung automatic that everyone is scared of. But every day? For two weeks? No stick, no massive torque, no superior braking? For two whole weeks?! ARGH!

I thought that since the accident was solo (into center median) with nobody injured, and no damage, and that since CHP didn't bother with a report, I was cool. But no, I need to report it to DMV since damage was over $750. So the accident goes on my ^%*&$&^%*& recod anyway. DAMN!

Anyone have a guess as to what they'll do if they declare it a total? Do they pay me the new price of the car (it had ~4k on it), or will they offer me the vastly lesser 'replacement value'? Given the decrease in value of these things, I'll loose ~$15k if they go that direction, won't I? Gawd, that's $5k/month, I could have leased a Lambo for that kinda dough... A used '05 with 4k miles is what, like $37k or so?

Alright, enjoy your V's all you V heads out there. Pull hard through third gear (my fave on my V) for me.

Since this thread is somewhat insurance related, thought I'd throw some info to you guys. Not sure how many other if any insurance companies have this policy, as I've been with Allstate for about twenty years now. Allstate just started a new car replacement rider on their policies. Extra $18.00 every six months gets you up to 110% replacment cash or a new vehicle if it's totaled anytime in the first three years. Seemed more than worth $36.00 a year for me. Dick
