The Navi/Computer for my '05 V constantly goes through its startup routine while I'm driving. Damn annoying to see this happen 20 times every 100 miles. It makes no difference if I push the button (upper right) to tell it yes I'm driver #1. Is this a common flaw or is my system whacked? I'm reticent to take it to the dealer because they have proven to be incompetent.

I have never had that happen to me or even heard of that happening. Would seem like a big distraction while driving.

sounds like it is losing serial buss connection. did you do any mods to the radio or touch the cables in the back?

Sounds like it could need to be replaced...

I have had this happen to me a few times 2 times over the life of the car...

No mods but the idiot dealer yanked the head unit twice because they never could figure out how to make the Navi work even after I told them that the salesman put the wrong Navi DVD in the head unit.

Since it appears I have to take the Navi back to the dealer does anyone recommend a good dealer service department in Houston?

I had this happen 3-4 times in one trip (ironically to the dealer - maybe it was nervous about the dealer visit), but I didn't even have the dealer look into it. Its not done it again since................ Strange....

This happened to me too. Dealer replaced the whole nav. system, but alas, my old disc does not seem to want to work with the new nav. Another call to the dealer pending when I pull the car back out in the spring. Yay. :rolleyes:

So they replaced the entire nav unit and didn't even check to see if it was functional? Sheesh that dealer sounds about as good McGinnis Cadillac in Houston which is where I purchased my car.
