gentlemen...
the new 2007 audi rs4. i love my V but can this be are most serious comp. to date? the new m5 is honestly in another class of it's own... however if this price is right and i think it will be we may be looking at something many owners of m's and v's might jump to... i acctually like it.

+ since it's twin turbo v8... upgrading the turbos (in theory) would see HUGE horsepower gains... and the all wheel drive... from a dig few will get you...
i don't know about you guys but i am keeping my eye on this one...

That steering wheel will not be on the U.S. model according to R&T. They compared it to a C32AMG and a M3. I do not think it reviewed all that well, especially since the old S4 won that shootout. Also, talk about sticker shock! You could maggie the V and have enough left over for 200,000 miles worth of gas and tires or bou an M% or E55. I believe the RS-4 is not turbocharged - it's a direct injection normally aspirated V-8. Very nice technology, but you're going to have to rev it to get your 420 bhp. I driven the direct injection 255 horse V6 motor in the A6 and it is impressive for its size. DILLIGAF 01-11-06, 07:13 PM Nice,I could never drive an Audi because my mom and sister own a4quats. Florian 01-11-06, 07:17 PM like the Audis, but HATED their repair bills....
F The exterior is pretty boring looking... Just because the Transporter drives an Audi now is no reason to make the jump, unless of course someone wants to give me the one he drives (with the start code of course). However I'm still not dumping the V. :p wildwhl 01-11-06, 07:27 PM I seem to recall reading this car would be $70K territory, since the S4 is already over $50K...I don't doubt it. IF it was a bi-turbo, all you would need is a chip for a very nice power gain.
It does not seem extremely impressive to me. Nice HP...bad TQ even worse mileage. One would expect much better mileage from a car with 100 less ci and 200 less pounds, especially being direct injection. Guess that quatro has quatro the drivetrain loss too.
I will be keeping an eye on this as well...in my rearview....after the wheels stop hopping that is. Just because the Transporter drives an Audi now is no reason to make the jump, unless of course someone wants to give me the one he drives (with the start code of course). Don't even get me started on how bad that movie was. They killed what could have been an awesome series. 04CTSVFLA 01-11-06, 07:30 PM i agree with wldwhl, I put msrp starting at 70k. Don't even get me started on how bad that movie was. They killed what could have been an awesome series.
(minor thread jack) - They went a little overboard with #2 (BS special effect scenes), but still good fight scenes, although #1 is better. (of course how often is that the case) roadracerx72 01-11-06, 08:10 PM mmmmmm...No. I just don't like it, the interior or exterior as far as that goes. Plus my father, (GM retired), would write me right off his Will if I traded my V for that. My V looks right at home in my garage, on the street, in front of ___(insert any car brand here)_____ on the street, the list goes on. moldowan 01-11-06, 08:16 PM Rs4 pricing has been set at $66,000. per fortitude.com (audi site)

most mags have said the C class with 6.3 will only be made for its exclusive customers (have more money then most)... It looks pretty until it goes in the shop the first time. It doesn't matter if it's VW or Audi, when they go down, they go down HARD. Caveat emptor... Kadonny 01-12-06, 08:38 AM like the Audis, but HATED their repair bills....

Florian, that was years ago. New Audis come with everything covered under warranty even scheduled maintenance. Only thing not covered is tires.
And here is a write up of the car. It is absolutely a NA engine:
BMW M3, meet your match... and then some. The all-new Audi RS4 has arrived. This is the latest RS-badged machine, little brother to the almighty RS6 and the successor to the devastatingly quick RS4 Avant of 2001.
Built from the ground-up as the ultimate compact luxury sedan, the RS4 returns for yet another generation with the confidence inspiring grip of all-wheel drive, nothing new for Audi of course. But the new model also presents new technologies which make this rendition one of the most advanced sports sedans to date. The biggest change that developer Quattro GmbH implemented with the new RS4 is the switch from turbo to natural aspiration; thats right, this is a first for Audis RS series. Instead, the RS4 will feature FSI direct-injection, the same power-optimizing technology that helped the brands R8 racer achieve four wins at the 24 hours of Le Mans. Aside from the W12-powered A8, the RS4 is the most powerful Audi currently in production: its 4,163 cc V8 powerplant produces a total output of 420-horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Though the motor is capable of revving to 8,250 rpm, low-end torque hasnt been sacrificed to do so with 90 percent of its maximum pulling power available between 2,250 and 7,600 rpm.
Routed to a short-throw six-speed manual gearbox and driven through Audis five-star quattro all-wheel drive system, the new FSI V8 is capable of catapulting the compact sedan to 60 mph in a hair-raising 4.7 seconds. The 125 mph mark is reached just a short while later, taking a mere 16+ seconds. While Audi voluntarily limited the RS4s top speed to 155 mph, in theory the car could reach speeds approaching 185 mph! For additional kick, the RS4 will feature a new sports mode, which when activated remaps the gas-pedal control, giving the engine sharper response. However impressive the new RS4 is in terms of acceleration, theres far more to it than just straight-line performance. Engineers in charge of the vehicle were ordered to optimize its power-to-weight ratio to ensure it wouldnt be a slouch in the corners. Like its suspension and chassis components, the new RS4 features a hood and front fenders crafted from aluminum to reduce weight. The result is a power to weight ratio of 8.66 lb/hp, a figure that that

This motor is supposed to be quite amazing. However, just imagine how much $$ it'll cost to mod. The regular 4.2L in the S4 costs nearly $10k to supercharge and doesn't even net huge gains compared to the Maggie. The RS4 will cost even more to mod.
When I was considering the S4 I spoke to the Audi salesman about the price of the RS4 and he was sure it would MSRP high 60's to low 70's (b/f optioning out and TTL). You might wanna just consider buying a used RS6 and chipping that one since it does have a turbo V8!! Isn't Kimcheejeegae driving an RS6 now?? I get it, but after 50K miles, your SOL....I had my S4 for nearly100K miles and it cost me BIG time. Fookin hated the dealer, but if you didnt take it there, they would flip out.
F Late BrakeU2 01-12-06, 04:45 PM At under 50k,there is absolutely nothing comparable in price, performance and luxury to the V period. The RS4 is a great all weather car,but it's a rubber band on the pipe, and I would not want to be an owner of one when the warranty turns into a pumpkin. You can squeek about the V rear end and shifter slop, but it will kick the crap out of everthing until you get to say a CLS55 AMG(were talking touring here, what the car was designed for).but it's double the price. The V represents a great value for the money, IMO With all of the people complaining about the reliability issues of the V, I can not believe anybody would be recommending an Audi. The 4.2 has been a relatively reliable power plant but you will spend a fortune tracking down electrical ugs after the warranty expires. Also, the 2.7T cam gaskets were only good for about 10K miles. Just my $.02 being a former German car snob. Dave, all I can tell you is in my 39 months of driving my A6 2.7T, not a whip of trouble, and I ran this car hard too! I have 40,000 some odd miles on her, still going strong but she gets turned back in for the a new V in 2 months.
I use them then leave them ;) | |
