View Full Version : Cadillac CTS-V best car I've ever owned  wildwhl 01-11-06, 05:03 PM Sure, there are issues with this and all other cars, as gets beat to death elsewhere on this and other forums.
However, I love my V.
It kicks serious ass - especially 20mph on up - and really comes into perfection in mountain twisties.
I am so glad I don't drive a Porsche, Volvo, Audi, BMW, or Mercedes right now...the V suits my lifestyle, aggressive driving, and need for G's at all times.

Amen to that!
I have owned cars that cost more and had more horsepower, but I've never owned a car that was so much fun to drive.
After nearly a year and a half of ownership, I still look for excuses to go out and take it for a drive. Power, handling, braking, comfort, and lines that I never get tired of looking at.
CTS-V, baby! Thats how the E-Thug rolls!:worship: PneuBird 01-11-06, 05:18 PM "DITTO" :cool2: GOTTSPD 01-11-06, 05:22 PM top two cars I've ever had the privilege of owning...

EThugs Posse ALSO pimps it V style!
F wildwhl 01-11-06, 05:27 PM Amen brothers!
Do I hear a "V" for vicious, rip-snorting, import-stomping, american made don't F with me super sedan!
:worship: Hey WW, have you seen the commercial where the guy gets bopped up the side of his head with a boomerang and suddenly wants to drop what he's doing and take a trip to a restaurant.
Man, you must be hitting your head once a day. :thepan: In the last several weeks you've:
Wanted to quite the car down
Was considering your wife opinion on whether to keep the "V":stirpot:

THE V IS FAST...no one here has ever questioned that. It's quality that is at question. Ditto here - and I've been saying it for a long time! Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of hearing from the "whiners" (if you'll excuse the pun.) It's about time we start to hear from those who love their "V". After reading some of these posts, I sometimes think I got the only good one in the country (and mine was built on a Monday, yet!) No clunks, no whine, no rattles, no peeling nav buttons and a service department that excels - what gives? There's got to be a lot more like me. Let's hear from you, damn it!! wildwhl 01-11-06, 05:38 PM Hey WW, have you seen the commercial where the guy gets bopped up the side of his head with a boomerang and suddenly wants to drop what he's doing and take a trip to a restaurant.

Not to nitpick, but clarify.
1) Quiet the car down to be the most Stealth, high HP V around. That was my original intent when I got the car, I just took a detour on my way.
2) My wife never had a chance of getting the V from me - but I did consider trading her in :hide:
3) It isn't better than sliced cheese - unless it comes with whine. OK, my V has maggie whine...so it is better :sneaky:
The V rocks. Those that ride in it want it. Those that test it wish they hadn't. If only I could manage a new Z06 along side it, but the wife still thinks the C4S is for her...so I'll settle :p I'm not really back, because I never really left. urbanski 01-11-06, 05:42 PM ww
get her the C4S and let me visit and drive her :)edit:...if you buy it used make sure the VIN doesn't match my old lemon, lol
and my "reunion" is tomorrow at 1400. :cloud9: and my "reunion" is tomorrow at 1400. :cloud9:
You getting your V back ? If so that's most excellent ! Geno -

I"M WITH YOU, :cool2: MAN! and really comes into perfection in mountain twisties.
It's almost as if it was designed to do that.... willsctsv 01-11-06, 06:09 PM The V has some quirks! But I still love getting behind the wheel and driving it. Especially down shifting on the highway to blow by someone, that should not be in the left lane! That's my lane!
I love flexing my american muscle! wildwhl 01-11-06, 06:12 PM :hmm: downshifting? Oh, that's right...no Maggie :stirpot: Read my signature. For those that know me, I autocross my V. Also, WW is correct, "20mph on up" the V is King of Sedans. I am just turning 30K on my V and it has run like a top. The only problem I have has was a front allignment. I am on the original diff and my second set of runcraps, no smokey burnouts or hard launches. I love it. I would buy it again in a second. I have had an '01 E55, '00 540 sport, '00 911 C2 and a '95 911 C2 and the V is the best of the bunch with the possible exception on the '95 C2. However, I had to stick my golf clubs on the front seat. It is a ton of car for the $. If you want a V8, stick and 4 doors the 545 and V are the only option. nutinbutctsv 01-11-06, 07:14 PM "Sigh" . . . I'm still researching and reading whatever I can before I decide to pull the trigger. I'm glad it's not all BAD news with the "V" but to a n00b like me, the negetivity I'm reading here and on other forums is starting to weigh in a lot on my decision. I am aware that those with problems with their cars will dominate the bandwith on any car forums but it can be overwhelming. I'm glad there are many with NO problems. Let those who are still on the "fence" hear more positive feedback. Thanks! "Sigh" . . . I'm still researching and reading whatever I can before I decide to pull the trigger. I thought your were "nutinbutctsv"?:p nutinbutctsv 01-11-06, 07:40 PM Yup, I still am Frank! This car is still at the top of my short list! DILLIGAF 01-11-06, 07:42 PM Amen,I love my car too. Now,how bout selling me your 2.8 pully that your using as a paper weight. Dick's06Vee 01-11-06, 10:22 PM Well, I'll jump in here and throw out my 02. I've had my new V for five weeks now and 1900 miles. Sold my 04 Z-06 and Monte Carlo and went with just one car.....but not just any car. I tracked my Z several times and plan on doing the same with the V.
I love this car! Fun to drive, no rattles whatsoever, nothing falling off the nav buttons, and no wheel hop. But then I've not done, nor do I intend to do, any hole shots. I have power shifted from 1st to 2nd, tc off and gotten wheel spin, but no wheel hop. Give me G's, G's and more G's. I live for curves. Great handling on this car. For me, this car perfect. American, 4-drs, great styling, big ole V-8 and a stick. Can't wait to track it in the spring.
Dick:D Ziplicon Tuesday 01-11-06, 10:56 PM There's something about the V - the taunt, solid feel, different style, low build number exclusivity.... that keep it sweet despite the issues. You will have the clunk, you will have wheel hop in addition to the normal bothersome issues (occasional noises).
But you'll never get bored behind the wheel of a V. Pirus owners will gaze at you with disdain (a plus). It's like being out with a beautiful woman; yeah, she's a little whorey, downright slut in the summer....but ya always look forward to the next time you're driving her, even if she does whine once in a while. lawfive 01-11-06, 11:00 PM Eh - it's okay. :D 2004ctsv 01-11-06, 11:08 PM There's something about the V - the taunt, solid feel, different style, low build number exclusivity.... that keep it sweet despite the issues. Hey Zippy - it's a car, not a woman. Take a cold shower.
T stkshkr 01-11-06, 11:29 PM I love my V......look forward to every time I get behind the wheel, even when it's hopping, I love the power that makes it do that. I'll fix it when it breaks, again and again if necessary calicadi 01-11-06, 11:57 PM "Sigh" . . . I'm still researching and reading whatever I can before I decide to pull the trigger. I think forums tend toward the negative. People seek other owners for help, advice, confirmation, etc. Don't base you decision on what goes on here. Go drive one.
p.s. Mine has been flawless and it's a very early build '04. I love driving it, competing in it, taking it down the boulevard and watching pedestrians bump into lamp posts 'cause they can't take their eyes off it. Yup, best car I too have ever owned. 51PHFTY 01-12-06, 01:18 AM The V is one of the best cars I have ever owned also. The only "issue" I have is the clunk, but I can live with it.
BTW: Not all Prius owners look with disdain - We also have an '06 Prius with the "HOV" stickers (allows one person to use the car pool lanes here in Calif. without risking the $390.00 ticket) for the long commute days.

Pulley is yours as soon as it is available - still have to ship off to magna for a little R&R. Also have a 2.6 that is a paperweight right now - or the 2.6x that we made - but you don't want that one, trust me ;)
WW Dennisscars 01-12-06, 01:22 AM She's done me right so far (even though I've been told I haven't driven enough miles to know, just how many miles before I get my expert badge?)
The V.. not for everybody.. Well, I was, am, and will always be a huge fan, if you've met me.....anyway I never fail to enjoy the V, always choose it first to drive weather permitting.
My wife loves it, she drives with enthusiasm as well.
Just last nite, a couple kids in town, pulled into the right lane just so we could get beside him, he took off hard, I let him get about 2 or so cars, then jumped on it, of course we blew past, then I slowed we get the big thumbs up!
How can you not love this car?????????????????????? :bouncy: :D livingthedream 01-12-06, 03:12 PM One more to chime in. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CAR I HAVE HAD. I have done build em's, buy em's had all kinds, but for all around everything you want this is it.
Its the perfect car, all-American Horsepower muscle, 4 doors, handles the curves like no-body's business (try the Colorado or California mountain switchbacks and you will learn this one is good at 65+ on 20-30mph curves, no sway, no drift, just meat on the road and muscle to climb that next hill and that wonderful B&B muffler pop when the downshift places you in the pinchpoint of the turn only to turn you loose when you break the next short straight)
This car will stand against the rice-rockets, the kraut-hammers and most other stuff and yes, sometimes one of them might get the best of you, but you can still smile, cause you have all you ever wanted and he/she paid probably double what you did to be able to take you.
No reason to think wow...look at the porsche... most of em cannot keep up with me and I can handle with them all the way.
livingthedream
turn the key and smile....everyday GT04CTS-V 01-12-06, 06:53 PM I love my V. Especially when I step on the Whine pedal. I'll huff and I'll puff and Maggie will blow your ugly SRT8 away! Have a nice day.
GT Best cars I've ever had; love 'em both. Now the wife and I don't argue about who gets to drive the V.:cloud9: blown65 01-13-06, 12:54 PM Yup, besides the Radio and the hard to get into first and R at times, I wouldnt trade the car for anything. | |
