Ok , so you all know i had gotten promoted to a new side fo the dealership and all. Busness cards , all that jazz. I was out int he shop helping the guys put a bed back on a 03 Ram. One of the women that does the estimates calls me on my nextel and asks if i would get a set of keys off her desk and take an eskie up to service. So i go into her office , theres 2 sets of keys on her desk, boath eskies. So i grab a set and say "is this the truck i need to take up there?". She says nothing , just stares blankly at her computer screen. Also in her office is the body shop manager and the womans assistant. I ask the estimate woman again after a minute "is this the set to go to service". Once again she says nothing. I put the keys back down and get up and walk out closeing the door to her office behind me. As soon as i get a few steps away i hear "god damit mike you get the **** back in here".I go back in , he says "sit your ass right back down in that chair". He then proceeds to yell at me to i guess try to ball me out. I sat there in the chair , streched my legs out and crossed them , folded my arms and stared right in to his eyes while he spewed a barrage of obcesnitys at me. I sat there and took it , didnt say a word , just debateing on whiether or not he deserved an ass kicking for it. I at the time decided to be the bigger man and let him do his thing.
I finished out the day , clocked out , packed my stuff up in my car and left a 20 foot long layer of contential tire in the lot.....

I go back in monday sometime to get my plant , and maybe beat the ever loving shit out of him .....its really burned my ass that ive once againg allowed someone to speak to me in that manner , i dont put up with bullshit ...

Wow, that is ****ed up! Did they actually fire you. If so you got some unemployment coming to you. Sounds like that guy was a complete ass. Though I think you did the right thing by just taking it, and not letting it get the better of you. To be honest that probably pissed him off more. I hate when I am mad and yelling to get no response.

nope wasnt fired ...i just packed up my stuff and left .....he did this at around 2 , and i left at 545 , 15 mintues late becuse i was helping a co worker ....

I have had 3 jobs, honestly, I have never "hated" any of my managers.... one of the two managers at my last job (the nursing home) I didn't like very much... but she was only there 2 days/week, so it wasn't that big of a deal... all my managers seem to like me.

Anyway, just got done cleaning up the Caddy... not perfect, but about as good as I care to get her.... atleast now. Kinda surprised the hell-fadded paint shined up the way it did... still though, there are about 8 big white spots on the car, and paint peeling on the lower plastic rockers, that I touched up with my Buick touch up paint, and a host of other things witht he appearance of the car, but, I got my sound system finished, the interior all together and cleaned up nice, she runs great, no problems and I am planning to have a great time :).

yup he went off when i walked out , apprently i was suposed to just sit there and wait for her to awnser me ....i had alot to do and couldnt sit there for 10 mintues till she felt i was worthy of an awnser , keep in mind she was the one that called me in there int he first place

my gosh, what could possibly make me and Stoney laugh harder then "pink in the middle" from the last meet? Mike in his '68 DeVille hitting the throttle, cutting the wheel to the left and parking the freakin' tanker nearly sideways in the merging lane (after failed attempt at Stoney to keep people from passing) then an 18-wheeler Freightliner nearly plowed into him... gosh, if there is ever a car to stop a tractor trailer, it'd be a '68 DeVille.... man, we were laughing for the longest time....

I don't think there is a way to top off that drop. It was such a huge rush. Rick wants to ride it next time. I know Old Town did a great job for us. I will be sure to call them on Monday and give them a great big Thank You. It was great meeting everybody. I think the next one will be in fall sometime.

Outstanding performace by cadillacmike68 and that 68 deville of his , like a good military man he didnt leave his fellow vet behind to fend for himself....we did battle on i4 ...with 2 slightly overheating cadillacs ....pissing off at least 8 of our felow americans and one angry trucker.....next time im strapping the camocrder to the car so i can document the next time me and cadillac mike attempt to take over i4 ....

The sheer amount of people staring, pointing, looking, aweing... was so cool... weather passing us up on I4 or at a stop light in town... everyone was pointing like look at that one! no look at that one!....lol... so fun.

When I lived in Phoenix, my Impala club would meet up with a 55-57 Chevy club and cruise down to Tucson for a show hosted by the Tucson classic Chevy club every April. It was so cool watching the reaction from other drivers as a fleet of 25-30 Impalas and shoeboxes headed down I-10. Lots of thumbs up and dropped jaws.

I'm jealous there aren't more members in the Pacific Northwest (I thought about joining the Seattle area meet this weekend, but $3/gallon gas is keeping me home). But car show season is coming, and Betty and I will get to some shows this summer.

BTW, who has the blue '79 Coupe DeVille? It's gorgeous. Love the color. Don't know why, but I've always liked the '77-'79 Cadillacs.

And the famous Sage Green Fleetwood now has bumpers. Whoo hoo!

This is really just a hang out small get together we are doing. Like the one at suprema we had. There is a place over here that is small but real nice to use for that situation.

Yes, but not in my computer DVD.It keeps saying DVD-Video playback graph could not be built due to insufficient decoders. So then I went and got one of my other DVDs and it wont play it either. Now I am really confused it used to play DVD's with no problem.

That time is fine. We had said a 4:00 or 5:00 start. We were all going to go out to dinner. So ask if he can switch with you. If he doesn't have any plans then he might like that idea. Better get on the phone because giving him enough time is in your benefit.

It will be continuous until we stop using it. We have that meet next week that we are still discussing in here. When the new one at the beach is completely set with dates and all that it will be a new post. This will never be deleted though.

Go to Clearwater or Fort Desoto Park for a real nice beach. This is just a little beach that is nothing special. Though the restaurant/bar is great just to hang out and have a good time without to many people.

The amount of people dosent matter to me...just being around the ocean is awsome...sooooo relaxing. Those type of resturants are the best. You dont have to be talking over a million people. I dont doubt any of the places you choose....you always seem to choose the right ones!:thumbsup:

I have the list but don't really want to call anyone out. I did have a PM from one person who no showed explaining that there car had problems and that was why they were unable to attend. So at least they let me know. As far as the others it ended up being great and it was there loss. The turnout was pretty good all and all. Especially being some guest from Old Town joined us.

First, this was a great meet up, thansk to Julie for organizing it and for everyone who came out in the cars. I didn't know there were that many forum members in Tampa & Orlando areas.

Now to the bad part, while driving home I figured that I needed to fill up, having used nearly an ENTIRE tank of premuim gas on this trip, I headed up to the Hess on north Fletcher Ave, it was about 1230 am sat by now, I'm on I-275 north, with all the construction cement barriers about 6 inches from the side of the car, etc., around Sligh ave exit when I hear squealing and then feel shimmying - not good, no place to pull off, and i'm thinking uh-oh...

I make it to Bird st exit, drive off - had to there's NO shoulder in I-275 until the finish- and stop. All the tires are full, no steam hissing, no fires raging (yet), belts are spinnig fine, no leaks. So get back in, and drive to Nebraska Ave and head north. It still shimmying though. I get about 200 yards, up to Waters ave and it's like an elephant kicked the car and now one tire is screeching like mad. I'm thinking, did i lock up a brake?!?!?. So i stop and get out. The front right axle has snapped off just inside the outer bearing, the caliper mounts are the only thing holding the wheel onto the chassis and it looks like the tire wants to make a U-turn (all the other wheels are straight).

Now this is NOT the best place to be stuck at 0030hrs. so I call USAA roadside assist, while I'm on aggravation hold, a TPD comes upon the scene, to try and assist (he didn't have a front axle kit with caliper, rotor, etc in his trunk so oh well). Then someone coming south shouts "you have a fire under that wheel!" I run and get the extinguisher and i put it out, it was brake fluid dripping on the red hot axle shaft!. Then a flat bed shows up, he was just out and about (with his girlfriend riding along to boot), they got it hooked up and towed to my house. I got it to the shop this morning.

I have some pics to post on this entire ordeal perhaps later tonight.

I'm just lucky that I got of the interstate before the axle snapped, otherwise my car car might have been toast!!!

The thing that pisses me off is that this was all NEW work last spring :mad:

The shop owner looked at it and said he would warrnatt out the mess. - he'd better or else he's not getting my paint and body job money.

Wow, that sucks!!!! You had a real exciting night that is for sure. I'm glad it will all be covered under warranty though. I would be really pissed if it wasn't. I mean the luck was with you early in the night against the 18 wheeler, but I guess at that point it ran out.

This upcoming meet really isn't so much about the cars. We have a member on here that lives in Tennessee. He couldn't make it for Old Town but still wanted to get to meet us. So we are going into Orlando just to hang out and get some dinner. You are welcome to join us if you would like. We are talking right now about another just small local meet in June at a beach bar over in Pasco. I will start a new thread on it once the date is set. I believe the date we are looking at now is for the 10th or 17th. The next old Town meet will probably be schedule for late October early November sometime. No, the car wouldn't have been toast, the cement barrier you would have blasted thru, the 18-wheel, the half dozen of Honda Civic's, and the front of Joes Bar would have been toast.... you'd have to get the front bumper re-chromed :).

Man, that sucks tho... atleast you got it under control and was able to get back safe without any further problems... glad it all worked out for ya :).

Thanks....... That is very nice and I may take you up on that in the future. This one is already set to be at a little place over here called Sams Beach Bar. It is simple, quiet, and Amy loves it. She asked specifically to go there. So at the last meet we where saying we could do just a small get together there. It won't be anything big like in Orlando probably on the scale of the Pizza Suprema meet size. Anybody is welcome to come though.

We have some local meets, but nothing I would drive over for. They are usually very small and really just kinda a hang out. There will be a new Old Town meet scheduled for sometime in Mid Oct. or beginning of Nov.. I will be trying to host the meets in Old Town about every 6 months. We have already done 2 and it has grown quite a bit already. Keep your eyes open for the next Old Town thread it should begin sometime in late July early August to discuss details and get dates set. Thanks
