I have a 1998 catera with leaky valve cover gaskets.
What is the torque spec for the valve cover & the oil pan bolts?
I would also like to get information on and check the crankcase ventilation system to be sure it is functioning.
I understand that it is unusual on the catera. Can anyone discribe it and suggest how to check it?

upper oil pan bolt 11 ft-lbs.

That's right from the service manual (actually Alldata). I have the book version as well, so I'll take a look tomorrow to confirm...

I looked at Alldata again, and it lists tightening specs for the upper and lower oil pan bolts, as my earlier post described. This information was found under the section "oil pan specifications". It also describes the procedure for replacing both the upper and lower oil pans, so apparently the Catera has two! I gotta tell you, in reading the procedure for replacing the upper one, it does NOT look like a picnic. You have to remove the engine from above... the lower oil pan is MUCH more straightforward and can be done from below the car.
