I just bought a 1993 El Dorado with a bad Intake Manifold. I have a contact on another board that has several, but is not sure that any are from a 93-94 Northstar. How do you tell the difference? Any pic's would be great.

Thanks,

Don

was this the one on ebay that blew itself up? I was almost going to bid on it...

The 93-94 are made of metal, so that would be your #1 clue. :alchi:

Lots. Top cover comes off, doesn't have a MAF...

thats one way to identify engines in general.

also the 95+ intake manifold is just like an LSX intake being all plastic. The pre 95 ones are plastic too but have the top cover as a component rather then a decorative piece

mmm... are you sure about that? I think I remember it being all metal...

I'm pretty sure it's metal as well!

yes its plastic, the "intake housing" is magnesium and the actual "induction tubes" are made from the same thermo plastic as on the post 95 engines

PS the top cover is magnesium, if thats what you were refering to
