I got a offer today in the mail for an extended warranty for my 98 Catera. I called up the company and they said they could give me powertrain coverage for five years and 100,000 miles for $1755.00. The Car has 109,500 and the motor was rebuilt after the tensioner falure under cadillac warranty although with this car it seems like anything could happen at any time so wanted some other opinions.

With the way my luck is, I'd probably get it. I bought my Catera 2 years ago and
I had less than 500 miles on the owner's extended warranty when my timing belt/tensioner went on me. Without that I'd be screwed. I guess that would depend on what's covered in the warranty and how those items hold up....especially the tranny. Do some research.
Research the company before you give them a cent.
See how good they are with coverage and what they cover (specifics).
BTW, for that sum of money you could buy another Catera if you ever needed parts.
