As the subject states. I got the easy part done, removing the spectre intake, but it looks like I need to pull the blower to get the stock Y-pipe out, is this correct? I did a search, and I saw everyone said to install the intake with the blower on, but didn't see anything about removing the factory Y-pipe.

I wrapped a microfiber towel around some bunched up packing material and blew it thru the tube with my shop vac, worked great.
Well sure enough, it came out with the blower still on. I had to unplug the EVAP and remove the EVAP tube (broke one of the white clips, doh!) and snaked it thru on the driverside. Its tight to the wiper motor, but it did come out.
Ahh, that will do it. I fought with it for a bit today but it started to get too cold in the garage and I gave up for now. I figured out to move the ac lines, and I moved the big harness off the top of the valve cover to the inside. Even still, I was able to get the coupler on the tb and intake but only with the evap plug connected, never both the plug and the vac line.
TimmyC, the stock and spectre intakes had 2 vac ports, this only has one. What should I do with the long vac line that Ts in with the brake Booster line?
I had to take mine out the passenger side. If you het it at the right angle it slides in and out with ease.
That vac line would never stay connected to the intake. Every time i drove it blew off. So I ended up using some black f4 tape (amazing stuff i get from work).
I always put a touch of some lube on the coupler so the intake tube slides in. I always have the back of the intake tube almost touching the open hood. Then I rotate the intake down while holding the coupler from behind the blower with my left hand from the passenger side
I got my stock y out the passenger side. All the blood and flesh from my hands and forearms helped lube the components on the way out. I was very careful removing everything and was able to get it all out without scratching anything.
I did have to do some trimming on the wiper motor bracket in order to get the new intake installed. Twist and turn just wasn't enough. The end result is a great intake that probably saved 5lbs or more off the top of the engine.
Well I finally got the intake installed this weekend. There were a lot more changes to the car than I was first expecting, but I hope the result is worth it.
After cutting the notch, and a few test fits, I had to go back with the 90* and a sanding disc and massage the area a bit more.
Now that its installed, a few things I've noticed:
Is this supposed to bolt here? Its not even close. If the tab is lined up with the hole, the intake interferes with the EVAP port no matter how I twist it.

And I had to push the filter on almost to the MAF plate to keep the filter off the horn/headlight/headlight washer. I will probably pull this off one day and trim 2" or so from the end of the tube:

Intake seems louder than the Spectre, however it seems a bit rich at low rpm. I was tuned for the spectre without the sleeve, but I'm hoping to see gains in the higher airflow areas.
Also, the intake is tight against the EVAP connector, I hope this doesn't cause any issues in the future. The AC lines had to be disconnected from the strut tower bracket. I just pushed them down below the intake tube. There was an add'l vac line going to the Spectre that Timmy said to leave open, and I simply removed the hose from the check valve? thing that is between the brake booster & the back of the intake.
