I have an 85 Coupe Deville that is Knocking when I step on the gas. I took the car to a repair shop and they said it was valves and would cost a lot to fix. I then went and bought a 79 Coupe for 700.00. Now I cant get rid of the 85 junkyards will give me up to 50.00. LOL I just spent 500.00 on a tranny. Now here is where I need help this guy at the Junkyard said a 4.5 will fit into the 85 is this true?

Yeah, a 4.5, and I believe a 4.9 will fit right in... Direct bolt on if im not mistaken....
You should be able to part the 85 out and get much more than $50... Id say you could sell the tranny for 400....

Ok thanks. That would give me some money to spend on the 79 coupe. I will put it in the papers out here in San Bernadino CA

You might also consider selling some if not all of the components on ebay...
Is the body still in good condition.... how about the seats??

the body is good the seats are all torn up as well as the top. It sat for 3 years and i got it for 300 dollars. The tranny was gone and the engine is still in need of help. New Alt w/ 24 mo roadside asst. thats it

I was thinking about swapping the 425 out for something else what can I change it for. What size would fit in the tranny I got in my 79 right now?? Any help would be thankful.

The 79 has the 425 engine and the TH400 transmission. The 472 and 500 engines are a direct swap for the 425; 472s were used in all Cadillacs in 68+69, and all Cadillacs except Eldorados from 70-74, the 500s were used in Eldos from 70-76 and all Cadillacs except Seville in 75+76.
