How many of you got used your car used? I would love to get one, but the poor resale the V's seem to have is appealing, I just don't want something someone just beat up for 10-20k mi and then sold. Also, what are any things I should know before jumping into this. I have a '98 T/A ws.6 and would definetley like to switch up, but I want to know everything I can before I start. Thanks for the input

I bought mine a few weeks ago. It's a 2004, 13k miles. The 2004 models can be had for some of the best deals around, as they are excluded from the additional $1,500+ gas guzzler tax (which is due at time of purchase).

My question is why are they going so cheap? They are 50k dollar cars!

It seems like the botom has dropped out of them.:hmm:

No mystery as to why used V's are going so cheap - GM Employee Pricing.

As soon as GM offered an almost $5,000 incentive on V's to anyone and everyone, the resale market immediately drops by a like amount. Same as if they had offered a rebate. Try to resell a GM SUV right now.

I understand the need to move inventory, but by cutting prices on the '05s as much as GM did, it did a disservice to everyone that purchased a GM product prior to the discounts.

You're right to buy used and save the extra $$.

I may as well jump in at this point. I've been lurking for a while now...

I plan on getting a used '05 V as soon as I can sell my Corvette.

The car had a 50k mile warranty, buy it used> I traded my 20 month old 04 in and got $29k for it and I was happy with it after looking at Ebay prices.

The employee pricing didn't help, that's certain, but I think there are some other pretty obvious reasons. Some things will be easy for GM to address, the others might not be.

Easy for GM to fix (if they choose to do so) -
- Wheel Hop
- Gass Rear-End
- Cheap-Looking Interior

Not so easy to address -
The V is playing in a status-driven segment, where "M" cars, AMG, Audi-S cars, and some others have all the cache. Cadillac just doesn't have the reputation, and they won't until they do it right and stick with it long enough to earn it.

I've have really come to hate these threads that announce "hey, I got a V for $10". It's very discouraging. :nono:

Bought an '04 with 12K. It helped that it had the extended 7yr/100K warranty, because I plan on keeping it. Traded a base CTS in for the V and got hurt some on that end of the deal, . . . but I finally got my 'V'.

I had the same concerns, being a regular working stiff @<90K a year I did not want to buy a mid 30k$ car only to take a 10-15K loss in 18 months. Most car take their biggest nose dive the first year or two so we should be safe. In the I decided the car is worth the chance. Jump in and enjoy the ride.

If you want a car that hasn't been beaten, when you find a V you like, ask the seller if he is a member of this forum. If the answer is "yes," RUN LIKE HELL!:canttalk:
