Yes, I am sorry I am so late to reply. I slept a little later ~ So a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you good and kind people. Am I happy ? Well, yes, as happy as one can be at 59 years old (YOUNG). Actually, I still feel 35, look 37, and act like 21...so it's only a number.

My wife got me the 1/18th scale silver Maserati Quattroporte & promisses to get me the real thing, about 90 days after she wins the N.J. lotttery Mega Millions. Every Option, Black with white lether & black stitching & black piping on the white seats. EVERY OPTION ! I want those massaging rear heated & air conditioing seats in Grand FauxPenna buttery soft Italian leather !

Down Side? I want my son home. He's still away at college intil 12/22. Gonna be one stale rock of birthday cake for him.

So, again thanks! :welcome:

Sandy what do your vanity plates stand for? TPAS?

DopeStar 156

I want my son home. He's still away at college intil 12/22.
Sadly that's my last day too.... What college does he go to? I remember you telling me at the Millburn show but my memory ain't so good....

Sandy
12-13-05, 11:54 PM
Dope, he goes to Rider University. It's located 6 miles south of Princeton Center and 6 miles north of Trenton. Exactly mid way. Gardne State Parkway South to the Route one exit and 30 miles down Rt 1 towards Phila, Pa. Mercer County, NJ.

TPAS is a very special license plate. If you look to the LEFT of the "P" you'll note a blue shield. It's a police shield. I paid $100.00 for this plate and then Ten Bucks a year (over & above normal yearly registration). All of trhis money goes into a fund that is available to the children of officers who were killed in the line of duty. This fund is for ANY form/type of higher education after high school, for those young people. Anthing from auto mechanics to beauty school to college....any form of training or education. The TPAS is called a VANITY plate and is an extra $25.00 one time only. The TPAS is, as you see, totally unknown to the masses, BUT every law enforcement officer knows EXACTLY what it means ! The Police Motto:
"To Protect and Serve" TPAS. I was able to get it because my wife's 1st cousin is a retired leutenant on a NJ police force, and came outta retirement to head up the dispatch station of another police force (other than where he was a leutenant that is). He is also involved in PAL (Police Athletic League) and is past president of an organization of Jewish Brothern Police Officers. He has the equalivant of a purple heart in the force, and was a former secretary of PAL. My other car (not the Caddy) bares NJ plate "TSAP"
To Serve and Protect, a variation of the T.C. plate. the Caddy is of course 60 SPCL and Matt's Jeep's plate is: " JEEP " I don't participate in tickets ! I also have a police issued driver's licence holder declairing that I am a family member of a police officer.

You put "DOPESTR" on that Caddy, you'll be pulled over every day, and they will hunt for ways to write you a moving violation. Might as well put on "DRUGDLR" ~ or "ARESTME"

I dont get these

It works a different way here, the car is issued with the plate, has it forever, unless you buy one from the DVLA, which I have, they cost between 250, and 25,000+ depending on how special the plate is. It can be registered to any car, and you may keep it, giving the car the original plates back when you sell it.

Some of my cars have them, others do not.

Seats still look great. It was pretty nice here over the weekend, so I took the Caddy to the coin car wash (too cold to be sticking my hand in a bucket), then vacuumed the inside and gave the seats a light application of Pledge.

Highs are in the 40s, lows in the 20s, and it's usually in the 30s driving back and forth to work. Replaced the heater core in the Caddy last week, so it's much more comfortable now.

I think vanity plates are fun. My boss has plates that say AD MAN, and our office manager, who drives a 79 Corvette (and used to drag race with a 65 Plymouth with a 440) has plates that say GO GRNMA.

The president of my car club back in Arizona has plates that say STILLRNS on his beater '72 Impala. Lots more cool vanity plates on his Web site, www.stillruns.com.

I'm here - just getting up! It's # 62 today. It's been a really sad year as I have spent endless countless days in the hospital fighting cancer. However, I am winning !! Feeling terrific, allthough sad as my son left at 6AM today with his girlfriend to vacation in Montego Bay. I miss his @$$ already! :crying: Thanks for the well wishes. This year I really need them. My 1993 Cadillac Sixty Special is spending the winter in a heated & dehumidified secure 14 car garage in which I rented a space. She wears a car cover and is flawless and as new, with 9,980 miles on her. I am allready looking forward to Spring, 2009. I am having my 3rd surgery on January 7th. I pray all well go well. I think it will. So far...So Good :D Thanks to all who maintain this site and to all contributors - In my past darkest hours, it has entertained me and kept my mind off the chemo infusions and related discomfort. ~ ~ Sandy

Rolex & SLK230....

Your guys are young at 32 & 23. LISTEN TO ME....

I had severe "White Coat Fear' ~ of Doctors, Hospitals & especially invasive surgery. I almost died at age 61 simply because of THAT fear.
Remember this, even though it's far away for you both...
at age 48 to 50 get the to a hospital and have a colonoscopy ! I was fearful,
and did NOT do it, even though my regular doctor told me to.
Little did I know, that I had a tiny little polyp in my colon. One does not feel these things. Finally I began bleeding from my rear. The tiny little polyp had grown to the size of cashew nut and had then become cancerous. Then spread to my Liver.
I never felt a thing !!!!!!!! IF IF IF I had that colonoscopy, when it was the size of the eraser on top of a normal pencil, they coulda woulda snipped it off WHILE doing the colonoscopy and I would had none of this misery......
I am now at 1,000 hours of Chemo & holding.
I have made fantastic improvement, from a month away from death, to washing & waxing my car, and living a normal life, again, but I need to be checked once a month for a year & 6 times a year..... thereafter
Never ever forget to have the Colo done ! The following day you will feel perfect, again. One day of misery -VS- sure death if it's cancerous ! DUH

Rolex

When the age arrives for me I will have my colonoscopy. Everybody I work with has them done. Supposedly they're the most cost effective diagnostic screening tool around, when weighed against the cost of surgery, chemo, etc for undiagnosed colon CA. No fear of the butt scope for me. Every now and then I have to do the sedation for our GI clinic so I've seen hundreds of them. :bonkers:

I've added 1000 IU of Vit D to my multivitamin regimen because of the recent literature that suggests larger Vit D doses significantly lower the incidence of colon cancer. They may eventually change their minds about that, but for the time being this sub-toxic dose can't hurt anything.

Glad to hear you are fighting the cancer and winning. I know I'm approaching the age where I'll need to do the colonoscopy, and while it sounds about as much fun as the MRI I had years ago, I'll do it. It beats chemo.

Hoover sends a big, wet, sloppy kiss your way, too.

I can't believe I missed this thread! Happy belated birthday, Sandy! Did you celebrate it well?

Sandy
12-30-08, 10:36 AM
I celebrated it in the hospital, as an out patient, recieving my 21st infusion of Chemo. Not fun, not fun at all. But when I got home (4PM) there was awaiting B' Day cake and some $$$ for me. The REAL celebration came 2 days later when my Cancer Dr. brought forth the latest results of my Cat-Scan, showing that I had a mere 2 centimeters of Cancer left in my Liver. This is a 98% total remission level, and with further treatments thru this coming early Summer, I should be 100%. It's been one hell of a loooong haul. I was also in the hospital on Thanksgiving AND Christmas ! I seem to hit all the holidays. So far, I am one of the very very lucky ones! It's a battle royal, and it puts your normal life on a 18-month "hold" ! Now, my lifelong best friend's wife, was just diagnosed with Liver Cancer, yesterday! I will not tell her the hell she faces.

How did I do so well? Outlook & food. You MUST keep a happy mind, and a good outlook and be confident that you will make it, and suppliment that with high quality food. Super high quality. I went Kosher, because there are NO chemicals in it, and nothing artificial and I ate alot of vegis (fresh) and the basic food groups and easy does it on the DAIRY stuff.
Lots of fish, flounder, Sole, that kinda food. Sweets are okay, but your body needs ammo to fight, and that comes from the food groups we all learned about in elementary school and super high quality food, with as few as possible non food ingredients. I lost 66 pounds going from 263 to 197. I am now 217 where I want to remain.
A week from today - next Tuesday, the 7th, I wil have my last operation, as an out patient, it's a 1 hour deal. Ya Hoo !

Anyhow, I am sorry that I forgot to reply to all these well wishes - but, my plate has been very full.

Damn, sir, sorry to hear you spent the day in the hospital dealing with chemo. But hey, the good news you receied certainly helps out! 98% remission? You're definitely a survivor.

Post a thread and let us know how that last op goes.

It's a colonoscopy - pretty ordinary stuff. They knock ya out, cold, take ya to the operating room, run a full sized school bus withthe headlight on Hi Beam, up ya tush and look around to see what's what. If they see any bad boys, they cut them out with an electric charge and remove. Takes like 35 minutes, later in recovery, you will awake - but be very very very very drowsey and you need to be driven home. A few hours sleep at home and you are okay by evening.
I need to have this every year to 14 months....probably forever. This is my Second time.

I guess it's a good thing you're not bashful Sandy. My dad had one of these last year and it wasn't the procedure that was the worst part. It was the preparation for it!!

I prep at home, the day prior. Your Dad should ask if he could also.
There is a really good chance that he can!
