: Amusing Oldsmobile reference on The Simpsons

Last night's episode:

Monty Burns breaks down in front of the school. Bart makes a sneering comment about Mr Burns' "Dodge SCAREavan" while Mr Burns fires back, "This is the first car to outrun a man!"

Burns threatens to kill the children while Smithers says he might consider getting a new car. Martin then says, with great anunciation, "A new car. May I suggest an Olllldsmobile?" The children briefly stare at him in horrified silence, then they go back to insulting Burns. :)

hahaha yes I caught that too! I laughed at his comment, I wonder why the other kids didn't laugh at that? Do they not know what Oldsmobile is? Are they too young to know of that name?

I also caught that comment. Perhaps he made the comment because oldsmobile is no longer in business. I am not sure though.

Oldsmobiles are cool. Olderones anyway, not the Aurora generation ones, but the Cutlass Supreme era ones.

the simpsons are getting worse each episode. The only thing funny in that one was when they accuse the family guy and american dad of ripping them off

yeah, the simpsons have falled off for the most part, but it still has it's funny moments. I think their best stuff was done in the late '90s, when they had Ian Maxtone-Graham as the writer. If you watch that episode when they go to New York City, you'll know what I'm talking about. That episode was one of the high points for the show, and Maxtone-Graham wrote it.

I liked the name of the Italian car.
