So I'm the first to hit this forum? Woohoo!!!!!!! Well I got a 1984 Fleetwood Brougham 2DR Coupe. Black with white top and white leather seats. I plan to make it a sleeper hot rod:D First I wanna swap in the 90-92 Brougham front and rear end. Then I'll figured what next after it

Yes! You are the first poster here on cadillacforums.com! It will be strange to think back to this day a year from now. :D Thanks for signing up! How did you find us?

Regarding your idea.. Nice!! I wanted to do the SAME thing when I had my Sedan DeVille.. Update the front and back.. Those big cars are so EVIL looking! Aren't they? Mean-looking things. :) They're heavy, but when they have the big engine in 'em, they're actually pretty quick! Post up some pictures.. Yours sounds really nice with the white leather interior! :)

I used your link from GMForums and found myself in here.I got a feeling this is gonna be a good site too ;) The interior is really nice. It got black carpet and dash with everything else in white. The only sad part is that the front seat got a tear under the armrest in the middle right next to the driver. I will get it redone but I think I'll add a little bit of gray to go with the black and white. I just bought the car on Sunday for $200 running too :D Funny how at the same time you made this site ;) Maybe it is a sign from the Caddy Gods

What?!?! Man!! How many miles?! Jeez. That's awesome!! Don't worry about the rip - you could have worse problems than that.. Very cool... Hurry up and get some pics so we have before and afters to look at. :)

The caddy got a lil over 150000 miles on it. I just went to get the old owner to sign the papers he hadn't sign yet. It got hail damage on the hood , roof , and trunk. Also needs the plastic that are almost always broken in the rear. But the only thing I need to do for the moment is replace the windsheild and she is ready to roll. Heaven help the ricers that get in front of her :D

I meant trunk :o

Just an FYI - You can click the EDIT button to edit your posts. :)

As for the car, 150,000 miles isn't bad at all. I's the 5 liter, right? That engine should last a long time.. Is the hood really badly dented? If so, you can find a used one without too much effort. There were a lot of those cars on the road..

It does sound like a great deal. :)

Mad'lac

cool!!! thanks for that bit of info seeing how I tend to make mistakes:) I wish it was the 5 liter but its the 4.1 V8. But part of my plan is to drop a 350 with some punch in it. I would like to at least hang with the Northstar. The hail damage is not as bad as it sounds but since I plan to put the newer front end on it maybe I'll get lucky and get the hood from the same car. Nothing like having a freshly painted black caddy.

You can get an even bigger engine in there if you wanted to.. Have you considered that? Maybe the engine for a '77 DeVille?

You mean like the guy did in Hot Rod Magazine in the January issue? It has cross my mind before. But I don't know much about them. It might not be that hard to do it now that I think about it.

Mad'lac
12-31-02, 07:03 PM
Btw does anyone know what mods that guy did to his car? Even when Hot Rod got a awesome car in their magazine they like to ramble about other things besides the car. No wonder I no longer subcribe to them.

Hmm.. I guess we're going to need our own Cadillac performance magazine eventually.. Now that Caddy is really moving toward performance, I don't think it would be unreasonable... I guess Hot Rod magazine doesn't keep back-issues on their site?

Mad'lac
01-01-03, 11:07 AM
Well if Ford Truck World can have their own magazine I don't see why we can't when we get as big as them. That Hot Rod issue is still out in some stores like the moms&pops stores. Hot Rod's site is not all that great at least to me it isn't.

btw
How was New Year for you?

BeelzeBob
01-01-03, 03:28 PM
New Year's was great! Thank you. No drinking for me, though. :) Still fun anyway.. As for a Cadillac Magazine - one day.. It'll happen. Maybe we can all have something to do with it...

Mad'lac
01-01-03, 03:35 PM
Same here. I don't drink much anyway. Maybe a beer or 2 each year. Well from what I have seen so far this site is really growing quick seeing how its not even a week old. I say by the end of the year this site will be a juggernaut in the Cadillac Forum world. "Its alive!!!" :D muahahahahaha

BeelzeBob
01-01-03, 03:38 PM
Juggernaut! I like the sounds of that.. That's exactly my intention. We're going to bring many Cadillac enthusiasts together here. In fact, I bet we'll have a positive impact on Cadillac itself. :)

Beer? Same here.. 2 or 3 a year...

I found a pic of a Fleetwood Coupe for those who forgot exactly what they look like. As soon as I get my car home I'll be taking pics and posting them up here.

80's rwd cads. From what I have read on the MTS Performance Cad message board, a big block cad will bolt in with the right motor mounts. They can be had pretty cheap too. If you are interested in the old big block cad motors, here's the site to look at: MTS Message Board. (http://members.boardhost.com/BadCad/)
They don't have much to say about anything smaller than 368's, but there's a world of info if you want to drop in a 472 or a 500.

I wonder if Cadillac will ever produce a car soughta like the Thunderbird and the new Mustang - retro.. I'd love to see a newer styled Fleetwood just like those older ones.. Is anyone really good with Adobe Photoshop? :D

Mad'lac,
There is some info on this car in the link below. Near the bottom you will see a link for the info.
The guys name is Jeff Schwartz. The motor is a '73 500.

BTW.....Jeffs car is going to be in the March issue of Car Craft too.

Thanks for the info and link !!! :) I'm gonna buy 4 Car Craft magazines then. One for each room of the house I'm in. I like the idea of making the caddy handle. Thats a realistic goal for me to shoot for.

I think it's going to be a write-up about the RSE (Real Street Eliminator......I think that's what it's called). Jeff entered his car in the competition. From what I hear, he was up against some pretty nice cars.

I remember the RSE!!!!! I'm glad to see we got a Caddy representing us this year. I hope he won :D

He did well:D
You'll have to get the mag to find out just how well he did:p

Well if he did win I just know some kid is going to want to buy my Caddy. I think I'll stick my puppy on him. All 100+ lbs of him :devillaug

There's a link below.
After you get there
click on "files" on the left there's a file named "jeff schwartz' cad
mods" which lists all the details. The March 03 Car Craft should be good reading, I competed in "Real Street Eliminator" against some F bodys in autocross and 1/4 mi. The outcome suprised me.
Any suspension stuff from 73-77 GM Mid size (cutlass, malibu, etc) or Caprice Cop car / Impala SS thru 96 will fit.
thanks,
jeff

Car Craft RSE (Real Street Eliminator) March issue will be on sale end of Jan 03.
My 82 Fleetwood Coupe and I did win!

Thanks for stopping by, Jeff. I'm sure there are a few people that could use some of your knowledge.
Your car is really nice......can't wait for the RSE write up.
I bet it drove those guys crazy to get whipped by a big ole Caddy:o

jeff schwartz
01-06-03, 02:42 PM
It really drove em nuts that I didn't make any practice runs down the 1/4 mile. Then I spanked em by nearly a full second. Nobody said much in the end, but the other competitors looked pretty pissed. But I did win the perfomance category (combined drag strip and autocross points) hands down. But the subjective judging for craftsmanship and ride and drive decided the final outcome.

That's cool!!!
I've been watching the MTS board trying to learn a few things before I have my motor rebuilt. That's where I learned about your car.
I don't know if you've looked in the pushrod section of this board or not, but I'm putting a 500 in a '72 Chevy truck.
We'd like to see some of the people from the MTS board coming in here but we don't want to take anyone away from Al's board either.

Thanks for all the info Jeff !!!! Its going to be a big help for my 84 Coupe. I really like what you did to the car. It gives me some great ideas but don't worry I'm not going to create a clone of your car. I'll paint it all black :D No way anyone in RSE can have a car riding better than a Cadillac. Hey whats the widest set of wheels can I fit in the car without doing the suspension mods you did?

jeff schwartz
01-07-03, 10:08 AM
10" wheels should fit without any chassis mods. I had 9.5s on it for a while. 285 tires will fit. I found 17" Centerline wheels purchased through Summit to be the best price. Centerline even built me a custom wheel which I ordered through SUmmit for the cheaper price.

Mad'lac
01-14-03, 07:27 PM
What was the backspacing you used for the 9.5 rims you had?

jeff schwartz
01-15-03, 10:29 AM
I think it was 5.5 inch backspacing. Hard to remember 3years ago.

Well this is an old thread, wonder whatever happened to that Fleetwood Coupe.

Lord Cadillac
02-03-07, 07:54 PM
Which one? Jeff's? Isn't he selling it?

Benzilla
02-03-07, 08:05 PM
Yeah Jeff is selling his, not much changed there. But I wonder about the other guy. A lot of times I'll see an old post about some car that was being restored, then it just drops off.
