Maybe reading on this forum is making me paranoid, but I seem to feel/hear a that seems as if I backed up over a chunk of snow, or some stones - just a little, but I keep noticing it and then look in the mirror for some reason.....sometimes nothing's there.

It's almost like a gear tooth is gone somewhere....is this typical of the differential preparing to fail maybe? This crap is starting to really bum me out.....

It sounds like your abs pump is doing it's normal checking cycle. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm on my third diff. This time it's an 06 model. Let's hope the third times a charm. Never had one make a noise while backing up. Most of the time, it's a whining noise that occurs at 46-52 mph, while maintaining speed or accelerating slightly.

Thanks - never heard of the abs going through a check cycle, but it does seem to happen only the first time I back up and when I back up over the same spot a few times as a test - it doesn't happen.
