I believe you should be the guniea pig. By my count, you're still on your original shocks. You've got an image to uphold. You should at least be on your third set of shocks by now.

Wont the shock valving be completely wrong for the V?? the Z06 is ~800lbs lighter than the V, different spring rate (and leaf springs at that), different shock angle...

I dont know about completely. Our shocks are very easy to compress. If the mounting is the same(it looks like it). Might be a good experiment ot see if a change in valving effects the wheel hop.

As I have already bought too much stuff already to fool with, it might be something to try. This same shock is availble in a bilstein! I may do it myself but not right now.

I don't think shocks will cure wheel hop, but if that's where you going then why not give Penske a call. I think you would need a shock that you could crank up the rebound dampning a lot. I think you would need an adjustable shock to get enough rebound dampning to do any good. Probably would trash your handling in the twisties as well, so you would have to be able to undo the adjustment when you were through drag racing.

Vette guys practically give away 01-03 shocks when they replace with 04s.

I say we test the bolt-up with some cheap take-offs. The difference in valving is not that dramatic from 01-04. It will tell us about curing wheel hop.

Begs the question...Does FG2 reduce wheel hop?

The GTO guys were installing the adjustable Konis with favorable results.

The valving on the Vette shocks would probably be too soft, but a fitment is a fitment. Yes, Koni's make phenomenal pieces that are VERY adjustable, but would still need more. The good thing though, they can re-valve the shocks...even double adjustable.

The FG2s may help hop a bit, but its really the geometry and soft link bushings that are our enemies. I have the Specter bushings and FG2s and can still hop on a dig... I'm even toying with the idea of BMR trailing arms, not even the least for dragging (I can't stomach the idea of Vs on a strip), but for a more solid feel during autoxes/track(road) and longevity...I've already blown a trailing-arm bushing from "excessive cornering".
And some have even said the BMR arms do help with the hop.

The Z06 shocks are gas pressurized and hard to compress. This is likely to raise the ride height in the rear and effect handling negatively. If you can find an adjustable shock to control compression and rebound that would be a better choice.

V shock length (fully extended) : 23 1/4"

Z06 shock lower mount width: 3"
V shock lower mount width: 2 5/8"

Z06 top mount width (center of bolts): 4"
V top mount width (center of bolts): ?

Summary: It aint gonna fit, and i still say the valving will be all wrong. :(

However, the top mount is much thinner than the V mount... this with WW spacers could get the rear of the V even lower.... hmmmm....

The best option we have is to send a set of stock shocks to Koni NA, or ProParts-the Koni re-valve specialists. PP re-valves Konis for countless SCCA SoloII National Champs...if they can't find a Koni shock that'll fit our car, nobody can.

And just to get this out now....shocks are not used to reduce wheel-hop, not in our applications. There's too much squish in our bushings in the rear for shocks to make a real difference. Only way would be to make compression/rebound so stiff, that the only direction the wheel could go would be front/back...and that would be very bad for our 'Nurburgring' tested image.

Adjustable shocks would be a great tool for those that autox/track-day, as we could then dial-in the proper vehicle dynamics to our individual tastes. On autox, the rears could be tightened for better slow-speed rotation, while some front stiffness could be added to keep oversteer from biting while doing 100mph in a turn on a track.

Koni would be the deal. I'll give them a call next week, perhaps they can do something for us. A set-up with Koni Sport shocks and Ground Control coilovers would be amazing...probably less than $1500. Add a set of Hots sways, and that would make a very potent corner-carver.
