OK, so right now I have one sort of nicer than mediocre Cadillac, a saddle 1981 Fleetwood Brougham Coupe with 235k miles, and one pretty darn decent Cadillac, a yellow 1979 Sedan deVille d'Elegance with 63k miles.

Had a hand-me-down 1977 Sedan deVille in Hudson Bay Blue when in college in the late '80's that had no vinyl top and a big bench seat...loved that car!

The first Cadillac I bought on my own was a 1978 Fleetwood Limousine (non formal/no divider) in sterling blue with 29k miles back in '00. Next bought a sort of decent brown 1978 Sedan deVille d'Elegance with 109k. Then scored with a like new 1976 Fleetwood Brougham with 9,700 miles AND the dual airbag option in Florentine Gold Firemest. Then an average 1990 Brougham d'Elegance with 67k miles in gray with a 350. Then the '81 Brougham Coupe, which I still have now and, most recently the '79 Sedan deVille d'Elegance.

Would LOVE a '58 Series 62 convertible, '58 Fleetwood 60-special, '64 Fleetwood, '69 Fleetwood, '76 Fleetwood Talisman, '76 Fleetwood Formal Limousine, '84 Fleetwood Formal Limousine, '85 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible with some other engine than the HT4100, and, what I'd absolutely go crazy to have: '06 custom crafted DTS formal limo by S&S in candy apple red with styling like the old factory Cad Limo but NO vinyl! WOW! Let's go out for cocktails!

Well, I have a '95 Fleetwood Brougham that I customized a bit to make it the kind of Cadillac I could live with. It's the first and most likely the last Cadillac for me. I have no wish to own any others. I never really wanted one but there was just something about these last gen. Fleetwoods that always made me think they were in some way special.

I have an 89 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance in mint condition as an all original stock cruiser. I want both a 69 Sedan de Ville or a 79 Coupe de Ville. I'm pretty close to a 79 right now all I need is a place to put it. I've never owned a Caddy before this one but my exgirlfriend had an 86 Sedan de Ville I used to drive sometimes.

I have a 1970 Sedan DeVille. Gold with a black vinyl top. Picked it up for a song and it has been a great car ever since. Probably worth 10x what I paid and the seats are more comfortable than my sofa...

This is the first Caddy I've owned.

I'd like to have a '69 or '70 Convertible Coupe DeVille with some more modern touches like an overdrive tranny, EFI, maybe some nitrous and a small blower just peeking through the hood :lildevil:
I really like the late 40's coupes with the fastback body style, they look so sleek for a car of that age.
Heck, most Caddies from the late 40's to '70 would be a treat to own. Don't care for the '59 as much though :shhh:, fins are too big, sorry.
The styling of the Seville roadsters from the early 80's has always appealed to me, but they're FWD, so not as cool. Maybe if it had a diesel though, that would be neat (have a diesel Benz which has really turned me on to the rattly engines)

i'm coming out of my sportscar stage and hitting my i want more room stage. As this is my first post I should Introduce myself. I am Richard and I am part of a long tradition of Caddy owners. In the fleet is a 1950 sedan deville, a 1974 eldorado (original owner, still smells new), a 1978 eldorado. and in our memories a 79 coupe deVille and my favorite. 1974 Sedan Deville. I am considering adding a mid ninties eldorado or fleetwood next year to my garage. I am really missing the big car feel. I have been driving an RX-7 until recently. Now my family car is a tracer. not the kind of quality I expect in a car. so here I am!

I've got my 1998 STS right now which I've had for over 3 years now.

I'm on a mission to get a 1996 Fleetwood Brougham (all black of course). I don't knwo when it will happen, but it will, and when it does happen, it will be one mean sleeper.

I'm also considering the future possibilty of an '06 CTS-V or even an '07 since I hear they will probably be redesigning the basic CTS form.

I still have my '96 Seville, I always wanted one and 98000 miles later, I'm still happy. I previously had a '90 DeVille and a '62 DeVille. My mom and aunt have owned several that I have and do drive occasianally.
I like a bunch of the new stuff, but the next one we buy will probably be an SRX for my wife. I'll buy used though, after owning over 30 new cars, I won't pay that depreciation any more for any brand of vehicle.

Wow..I'm surprised so many of you guys like the Land Yachts. They roll and pitch like small boats. They accelerate rather slowly and braking that mass is difficult. Now that I've pissed you guys off:D

I traded my 2001 Eldorado in on the '04 Cadillac CTS. Reason being Cadillac stop making Eldorados and I was ready for a new Cadillac. So here I am in my '04 CTS 3.6VVT. Next? Either a new CTS in '07 when the body change to supposed to be or maybe move up to the NorthStar powered STS. I'm a performance oriented car owner and make demands on my car. I've already have $4,000 worth of Mods on this CTS. A DeVille just could accomplish what I want. I feel like I should be wearing a chaffeur's hat.

Did you know you can get the STS with a SuperCharged NorthStar rated at 469HP!!
It's got some extra weight over the CTS-V but the extra 69HP should move it past the 400HP of the V.

I had a 91 SDV, nice car (really liked that body style) but it was too badly neglected by the previous owner(s) and was eating through my wallet at an unacceptable rate after about 2 years of ownership. It killed me too, because I really wanted (and tried) to bring the car back to near perfect, just couldn't be done - it was a losing battle.

Anyway, sold that one for a loss and bought my 1995 SDV, spring special in Cotillion White, shale interior. I love this car. It has been incredibly reliable in the 2+ years I've owned it, and is in better shape now than when I bought it (but it was well maintained by the previous owner I should point out).

It is a great looking, nice riding car that has the room and the features I wanted, and has been a true pleasure to drive. I have poured a lot of money into it, much of it for "elective" procedures but I consider it worthwhile as I bought it for a bit less than book value and have spread out the repairs and upgrades enough that it hasn't shot my budget all to hell.

I'm 99% certain that my next one will be a 99-02 Eldorado (the newer the better) as I really like the looks of the last gen Eldo. I say 99%, because the only thing that may prevent me from getting an Eldorado is if a really choice 99 Deville in top shape for a low price (when I'm ready to buy my next one) comes along.

After that? Well, I do like the CTS a lot, but it is perhaps a bit small for my taste after doing the Deville thing for so long. The Eldo feels about the same to me in the front seat, rear is a bit cramped. I am also intrigued by the 2006 DTS, it is a really sharp car that I will very likely buy used at some point down the road. But, I'm getting way ahead of myself now.

FWIW, I really have become a Caddy man. I do not see any other car on the road now that appeals to me, based on looks or reputation. If I had to buy something other than a Cadillac, I don't know what I'd get, as there are no other makes that really do it for me.

I won't buy Japanese lux, I find them boring, and there are billions of them on the road it seems; luxury should have at least some measure of exclusivity. They also have no heritage, Lexus/Acura/Infiniti et al. have been around for what - less than two decades?

Euro lux? I'll pass, they are overpriced [because they can, the sheep still buy 'em no matter the $$$, gotta have "that" image] and the styling does nothing for me - BMW makes an interior that is colder than a witches +|+$ in a brass bra. Their more recent body restylings are also less than stellar.

MB has too many problems stemming from over-enigneering everything (proving that more complicated does not equal better). BMW is starting to fall into this trap too it seems.

Jaguar, well they are pretty cars but out of my price range and I can get one hell of a lot of Cadillac for my money vs. what I'd have to shell out for a heavily used [up] Jag. Oh, and a Cadillac can still be fixed in my driveway on the weekend with many readily availble parts, the Jag takes a $20 oil filter that I have to get at the dealer - and it's a division of Ford [I just can't trust them].

So there you have it. Caddies for me all the way, I'll probably be buried in one.

I have my 94 FWB now, and my last Cadillac was a 1991 Sedan DeVille.

I don't plan on any more Cadillacs for now, at least no other models. I like the 94-96 FWB's. Only other one that might tickle my fancy is a 98-99 Fleetwood. Else, must be RWD and seat 6 and not an SUV or minivan. Leaves me to my Fleetwood....

Well, lets see (from memory, this is not a complete list likely):

Power Steering Pump
A/C programmer - electronics smoked.
A/C compressor (never did get A/C to work as the previous owner did a half-assed r134A retrofit that trashed the whole system, didn't know when I bought it, as it seemed to work on the test drive)
Motor/tranny Mounts
power seat broken pass side
power windows FL, FR, RR always cutting out (bad regulators, at least one motor)
2 bad rims (too fubar to balance tires), replaced all 4 with refinished stock rims
leak in front floor pan due to improper jacking placement by previous owner (fixed by me)
new catalytic converter, guts were broken down and caused poor drivability
New hood ornament
New sail panel emblems
New floorpan carpet (old stuff looked like a crime scene)

The last straw was when 2 injectors died, $900.00+ to get a set of (8) injectors? Well, I didn't know about the 19lb Bosch orange tops at the time, or I might have done these and saved $700. Besides, the suspension was shot all around, (another $1200 plus to do it myslef) and it was getting some very early cancer.

Even at that, the car was just too rough around the edges to ever be restorable to the point of meeting my standards. Too bad really, because I tried to bring it around. I put an enormous effort towards making it an 8 or 9 (knew it would never be a 10 again) but for every improvement/upgrade, something major unexpectedly kicked my butt and set back my progress.

Add to that the fact that it was a very poorly optioned car - virtually nothing more than minimum factory equipment, save for power seats and heated mirrors. I just didn't feel like it had much going for it after having so much aggravation trying to keep it running. It was also a boring color combo - metallic pewter grey (my name, not the GM name for the color) over medium slate grey metallic interior.

Anyway, the combination of so many problems in so short a time (2 1/4 years) was killing me financially (this was before I got a job that paid me enough to take proper care of a car such as a Deville) and so I finally caved in and admit that I was beat. Got the new job just prior to getting my 95, and things really turned out for the best. Now I have a much nicer car with more options, in better condition and the money to do it justice.

Do I have any regrets? Only one, wish I would have known about the Bosch injectors, I could have done that and got some decent money out of the car; I sold it to a mechanic for $750, and made it his problem. Probably could have gotten $2000 out of it not for the fried injectors, as it would have been running ok.

Other than that, it was a good car to "cut my teeth" on, it was my first Cadillac and I learned a lot about servicing it (and what NOT to do) that proved most valuble in properly maintaining the one I have now.

One might think that all the above would have soured my taste for Caddies, but I don't blame GM - they made a good, albeit very basic (lack of options again) car. The owners who drove it before me made it a basic piece of $h|+, and to them I can only say they should drive a Corolla. Why spend for a domestic luxury car if you're gonna treat it like a $3 whore? Just stupid.

Well, live and learn. Now I know exactly what to look for in a used Cadillac. I will never be burned again.

Wow man, thats a lot of problems in 2.5 years!

I've only got one problem: the coolant is corroding the engine block from the inside out. Which is the reason it's leaking coolant from the side of the block.

I guess I don't have it so bad :)

Did you have the 4.9 main bearing thump?

I have a '92 Seville SLS. If I do not trade up for a newer Seville in the future I'd like a silver on gray, or tan DTS with every single option there is minus any carriage roof and pimp crap like that. I want the night vision, on star, everything.

Actually, my 91 never had the main bearing thump. The engine was pretty solid and ran nice and quiet, just everything attached to it went down the toilet. It still wasn't as bad as my first car - dare I say it? - a Ford Escort [gagging] that will probably be the cause of my going to hell for all the times I cursed the Lord when I owned it.

The 4.9 on my 95 is even better, although I just recently noticed some minor lifter chatter that has be a bit concerned. Could just be the cold weather (teens to 20's this week here in STL MO) I suppose, but it will be checked out this weekend. It has 110,5xx on it now, the 91 had 122,7xx or so when I sold it.

I have:

Gorgeous 1998 DeVille D'Elegance in White Diamond with the Gold Package with just over 60,700 miles on it. From what I can tell all original except for a wood dash kit (looks very sharp and the aftermarket parts are indistinguishable from the factory parts. Has all options except Astro Roof, Homelink (came with it originally but previous owner removed it), car phone (came with it originally but previous owner removed it), and the jury is still out as to if it has the bose stereo or not (has the 11 speaker CD/Cassette unit with RDS), also does not have the CD Changer (YET!).

I want in order:

1.] Similarly equipt 98 or 99 DeVille Concors (mom has a 99 with 104k on it)
2.] LOADED 98 or 99 Eldorado ETC also in White Diamond although I love that reddish burgandy color.
3.] 03-05 DeVille (loaded)
4.] 2006 Porsche 911 GT2
5.] 25th anniversary Lamborghini Countach

Doubt I will ever have 4 or 5 but the 1st 3 can be done.

The Cadillac I want to own is the 1985 Seville, which is the last year of the slant back Seville. Just not sure when I will have the chance to own one.

Speed and handling have only been a speck in the last century of Cadillac's history. So why would it surprise you that most Cadillac fans/owners would not be terribly interested in those attributes?
And As for those "Land Yachts" not being fast or handling well, you'd be surprised how little it takes to make them do quite well in those departments. :sneaky:

Yeah I mean when you have a car with 472 or 500 cubic inches performance is somewhat easy to get! All things considered, these cars were respectable in their day. The 75's and '76's would run 17.5-18.0 in the quarter mile in 5200lbs of leather lined elegance!

It had a moonroof (As big as some cars roofs now almost) a 501 motor and let me tell you that was an incredible motor especially top end (Really fast once I had the carb rebuilt):thumbsup: and with 5400 pounds and front wheel drive it was GREAT in bad weather. But I do love my 02 now too

I have only had one Cadillac and that is the 1976 Fleetwood Brougham i still own.
It was very close that i bought a -87 Brougham one year before i bought the -76, but i had my mind set on a -75 or -76 Fleetwood and passed on the Brougham.
However it turn out great because my father bought the Brougham instead, because he had a bad hip and liked the space in the car when he followed me to look and test drive it.
I could use the Brougham almost like my own on cruises and so on, until i bought my own.

As for what i want.
I would like to have a -76 Fleetwood Talisman in real mint condision (sp).
For a daily user i would like to have a 94-96 Fleetwood Brougham.
I wouldn't mind owning a 1930's Cadillac or a -58 or -59 conv.

I had a beautiful, brand new '88 Coupe Deville. Charcoal with grey leather and silvery factory landau. It was a real beauty. I sold it for and '89 Super Coupe when they came out. I wish I still had the '88. I can't afford new cars anymore but I'd like to get an '06 Deville in a couple of years.

(most of my cars have the curse of being black; I fall in love when I see them on the lot and curse them for having to be detailed so often later)

'03 CTS Lux/Sport - *sigh* black exterior with dark pewter interior

A V-series, but am torn between an STS or CTS. The STS-V has the high end appeal and luxury touches, but the CTS-V would be, in my opinion, more fun with it's corvette engine, cornering, and 6 speed.

Oh yeah, I've always wanted a bright red '59 Eldorado convertible (I know, so does everyone else :p ).

I guess I prefer to keep my RWD FWB, I still would love to drop in a few different powerplants.

8100, with GM fuel injection so I can reflash as needed and tweak the powerplant. 4L80E/4L85E. Keep the 3.42's, depending on the powerlevel, drop to 3.23's or 3.08's. Depends on how well the engine does.

Next choice will be the aluminum 6.2L L92 V8 (the new 400 hp/400 lb/ft torque) engine. This would make more sense, and lighter. These cars need lighter....

Or a recammed LS7 to work well with the heavy Fleetwood. Then probably go with 3.73 or 4.10 gears and a 4L65E trans. Go with the 5 sp or 6 sp auto when it comes available to the LS series of engines.

And somehow, make AWD... This would be the coolest feature. 8100 AWD....

I have an old, 1982 Edorado Biarritz with the HT-4100, small-block V-8.

I am looking for a left-front fender extension and the little, L/H "A" foot at the bottom that it bolts on to; that is, without having to buy the complete bumper filler kit. If you have either or both for sale as ABS aftermarket replacements, all the better.

I'll do the sanding and painting, they just have to be whole.

She was Sonora Tan, with antique saddle leather interior and tan cabriolet vinyl top. My friends in high school called her the beige bomber. Still miss her.

My first was a jet black 1988 ETC -- no special badging that year but maintained the ETC tradition of a Beechwood interior and matching trunk trim. First of the line to have anti-locks, I think. I was the second owner (an older local doctor was the first -- it was his fifth Eldo or something and he just traded in every three years. My favorite part was its orange pinstripes which looked just great on the black paint. I kept it ultra stock and clean.

I unfortunately lost it to a collision when a German tourist ran a red light at Constitution Ave and 14th Street in downtown DC. I was OK, the guy's passenger had broken ribs, but so what MY CADDY WAS TOTALED!! :eek:

I replaced it with my current daily driver, my 1991 bright red ETC with 161K. I just love the "unbadged" look of this car -- many folks just can't figure out what it is. Plus the rectangular dual exhausts, 16" cast aluminum wheels, and I honestly get a lot of street compliments. Last week (I am not making this up) somebody left a note under my wiper in my driveway that said, "Do you want to sell this car? I love this car! (202) 555-5555." That happened once before about three years ago. I try to keep it as "factory" as possible, including tracking down the Gold Delivery cassette (still in the cellophane, of course!) No stickers or mods allowed!

Only 2,249 ETCs were made in 91, and they only came in six colors. That'd be an average of 374 in each color. Let's say half are no longer on the road? That'd be an average of 187 left of each color. Finally, I'd think my color (Crimson) would be less-popular, so maybe there are fewer than 100 red 91 ETCs left?

Sorry, later ETC fans -- that body style just doesn't grab me, nor does the cockpit.

As to what I'd like...I would LOVE a black 1985 ETC with the white-letter tires. What a mean-looking machine! :thumbsup:

I plan to hang onto mine for as long as I can -- but if/when it goes, I hope there'll be a nice used black STS-V available!

Sonora tan? I've never heard of that color, all I've seen is Sonora Saddle from thr early '80s. I guess I need to do some more research. :)

BTW, great interior color choice. ;) haha.
