I like the design of the new GS, what do you guys think? I don't know the hp but it has an optional 6 speed auto!

Its bland compared to the competition, but its definitely a huge step up.

It's very nice but it doesn't meet my expectations for a Lexus on the inside.. I'm more impressed with the interior on the outgoing model than this one. Otherwise, it's an improvement...

My father-in-law has a new GS430 in the Matador Red with black interior.
I drive it on average once a week for our trip to our Delaware plant (about 100 miles each way). VERY nice looking car I must admit. But the one thing that REALLY makes the car is the one thing that also kills the car for me. He got the optional "spider" wheels. They LOOK hot as hell but they also force the buyer into the run-flat tires which ride terrible IMO. Damn shame if you ask me. It handles great but in a car like this I think it should ride better than it does. The interior is nice, nothing special but I like it. I think there should be more lighting in it though. At night, the interior is a black hole. As you enter at night you can't see the back seat hardly at all so I'm not real hip on it from a security standpoint. A lighter color interior probably wouldn't be a problem.
I'm not real fond of the brakes either. VERY touchy!
The rear door locks are a pain too. They stay locked after you stop the car and that makes it tough for rear seat passengers to get out. You have to hit the unlock botton from the front, or they must manually unlock the door themselves. According to the dealer, that's a safety feature and it can't be reprogrammed. Overall, I like the car but doubt I'd own one myself.

Kevin. I think Lexus is getting a little Lazy... They did a great job with the IS but there are a few things about the GS that just aren't so great. And yes, those back seat locks are like that on all the models (as far as I know). At least the new ones...

don't find that bland at all! I think it is very stylish from the exterior. I do agree the interior is very bland, only thing I like is the fact that the dash wraps into the doors.

Actually, if you spend a little time loking over the interior, there's a few touches that are real neat and some that are down right stupid. King of the stupid stuff? The flip-down control panel on the left side of the dash. One of the nice things? How the center console works.
