: Twisties

So for some reason I woke up at 4:00 AM this morning, Saturday. Dark. Spent some time on the Web and read a book. At 6:00 I went to the local coffee shop and was talked into something called an eggnog latte (ugh). As I was leaving, I realized that there was little traffic on the roads, and the V was warmed up, so I turned left instead of right and headed for the hills.

There's a three mile stretch that runs up the foothills from I-15 to a reservoir above Riverside. It's all twisties, with some turns that approach switchback status. I ran up it at ludicrous speed until I caught up to a slow mover and had to back off. At the top, I hung a U and ran back down again with the windows down, then back up even faster with nobody in the way. And down again. Wide awake, now.

Amongst all the posts about car problems and dealer problems, I just wanted to post a thread that's about the sheer joy of driving this car.

:yeah:

Amen Brother!

Is there a better bang-for-the-buck experience road car than the V? I haven't found it. This car is magical to run through the gears, even on a flat slab like I-95 or the New Jersey Turnpike. I look forward to the toll booths just to be able to stir the gears when blasting out of the EZ-Pass lane.

I never miss an opportunity to put the V on the road, and when I know twisties are going to be involved, I want to put on a flight suit and pop the Top Gun soundtrack in the CD player. What a rush this car can be!

Lawfive, thanks for keeping the important things in perspective.

Heavy -

I'm glad you finally realized that nothing is as bad as model airplanes.

Lawfive - I couldn't agree more. Thanks. I was about to post how the Hotchkis bars kept me from getting a speeding ticket this morning in a new thread - but it is relevant to this one.

Paraphrased:

"...I'm pretty sure you were speeding through that yellow intersection but your car was so flat and the tires seemingly quiet...and I didn't get you on the radar...so may I just sugges you slow down?"

Yes officer. Have a Merry Christmas. Thank you.

"You're welcome. Nice car. Can't recall ever seeing a modern Cadillac that I liked the sound better than my Harley. Is your car stock?"

;) Sure it is - just a GM authorized aftermarket exhaust :lies:

I love the holidays - and the V.

You're right, law, the turns are what it is all about. The turn in question above was after a 20 minute detour through my favorite mountain twisties on the edge of the city, on my way to get coffe! Yes - the eggnog latte is crap...I was suckered into that one last weekend.

Enjoy your V's, grenading diffs or not.

Great post! I love hearing about people using the car as it was intended, carving...slicing...and dicing. I've now got the warm fuzzies...

:hmm:

Taking the wife and kids to Disneyland on the 7th...and heading home on the 10th. Seems to me they could handle a detour to Willow Springs, no? Would have a ton of stuff to unpack, and a wife and two kids unhappily along with me...so probably not. But I do like to dream :)

If your going up the 5 it's on the way. I'm bringing the wife and the travel trailer. They could complain about us both. :D

I'd be great!

That's a long way to drive just to be humbled...
