Does anyone know how to remove the radio on a 2002 Esclade? Pics would be great, maybe even the pages from the factory service manual?

Its pretty easy,

1. You will have to turn the car off and place it in 1st gear.

2. Snap off the main console that aurrounds the stereo( the one with wood) The this is huge and it will snap off in the main corners. After that is off you will be able to remove the stereo,

3. To take off the main stereo trhere are clips on both sides of it. The clips are hidden on the side and you will need to use something thin to squeeze them. I used a screwdriver. WIth both clips compressed the stereo will come out. Now you must unplug all the wires in the back of it because It wont got that far.

Thanks. I was aware of the huge dash shrowd, as I have had that off before. I just didn't remember if there were any bolts holding the radio in. So I'll have to look for these clips.

Nope, just adding a interface to give me auxiliary inputs to the radio. Check out this (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58784) thread.

with that AAI-GM9 that you bought, can you still use your cd player along with the 2 aux?

Steve,

You can use our AAI-GM9 to input an auxiliary source to the factory radio and it will retain the CD changer.

Getting the radio out after you get the IP bezel off is easy.

It either has three 7mm head screws, or the old style slide lock type connectors. If it has those you'll see no screws, you just push down on the lock tabs and pull the radio towards you. Since that is anew body style it should have the screws in it.

Well I was home this past weekend and the interace arrived. I had some time to install it after my first final this morning. Removing the radio was easy and the interface plugged right in. It works as described and sounds incredible. When I get home and have access to all my tools I need to find a suitable location to install the toggle switch to select inputs and to route the rca cables to the sirius unit. Overall for $44 from eBay I was very impressed with the unit.

I am thinking of doing the same, just as long as I can put two ipods and keep the stock cd changer. so where is the wire coming out from your dash?

Right now it's loose, just fed down to under the dash, by the gas pedal. When I get home on Thursday I plan on feeding the wire into the center console storage compartment. Should make a nice clean hidden install. The unit gives 2 AUX inputs and keeps the stock changer and onstar. I'll prolly mount the toggle switch somewhere under the dash where it's accessible, but not in the way of being hit by accident.

Hey Steve, I just came back from vacationing back home.
i just bought the same module that you bought but where is your wire coming out form the dash? Is it like you stated earlier or did you figure out a better location. do you have any pics of the final install cause its hard work to make a wire coming out of the dash look clean.
Thanks

The wires are run down into the same place as before, now the control switch is attached to the support for the piece thats under the steering wheel. The RCA cables are run under the cupholders into the center console through the access panel. The above pics are of my final install.
